It exists but it's pretty niche. Nothing to worry about IMO.

That's definitely a worry. The toxicity down here is because a safe district is still like 55/45 and that means that almost half the district feels like they have zero representation.
Of modern large democracies, it's just Canada, the UK, and the US still using first last the post. It's long past time for multi-mp ridings.

Nenshi was on Global last night blasting the separatists and Danielle Smith for stoking the flames of western alienation and separation. Also had to clarify they the Alberta NDP is not part of the federal NDP, after this election I don't see the UCP losing anything anytime soon.

Disappointing to see only one Liberal win in Calgary (and it was a photo finish). Surprised that, with all of the changes over the past couple of decades, Calgary is still a Conservative fortress.

It's crazy to have 140 seats and no leader. So there are plenty of options pending who runs. Gallant and Reid have been there forever. Chong and Lewis have run before. Does some outsider come in, Ambrose, Kenney etc....

I will give Smith some credit as she does a great job blaming EVERYTHING on the federal government. She rarely, if ever, takes responsibility for anything unless its to show how she owns the libs.
That said, it's hard to believe that with all the apparent strife in the west, or at least the picture that Smith and Co paint, at no time does a conservative voter look in the mirror and see that Alberta has voted conservative since the beginning of time.
And considering that, I get a kick out of people that say the libs were in power for 9 years, time for a change.

So, there is still no full certainty on a majority or minority government. I turned on the TV and there is barely any coverage. Quite disappointing.

I do believe that it benefits us all to have competent leaders of all parties, even the ones you oppose so hopefully the CP and NDP can follow the lead of the Liberal party and select party leaders that are fully qualified and competent enough to provide a viable alternative to the Liberals in future elections as Canadians truly do deserve better than what we have received the last decade from parliament.

Well said.

So is PP actually going to step down? If he doesn't, do the cons still accept him as leader after losing his own seat? Hopefully there's enough sane members of that party who realize what a disaster he's been as leader to force a no confidence vote

Oh FFS... another minority government with the NDP holding the balance of power, exactly where we were before. How the hell, after the last 18 months, do we end up in the same place?
Needed a majority here, especially given current givens.

I thought minority was certain. Where are you seeing uncertainty?

If the current seat count holds, they're only 4 seats away from a majority. Will Carney try to entice at least 4 MPs (from any party) to cross the floor to secure the majority?

We can sure as hell hope so, especially in the interim period where the CPC is leaderless.

My choice was already mentioned and it would be Michael Chong. If it helps with Quebec votes I think Deltell would be a reasonable option as well.

Only if a coalition is formed. The liberals could look to any of the major parties to pass bills now and I hope they do. The ball is also in the CPCs court too, they have the choice of blindly voting no to everything or actually working with the libs to get concessions for their constituents.
A rising tide raises all ships.

With PP in charge, I see them sabotaging every Liberal proposal even if they cut off their own nose in the process.
Hopefully the adults retake the Conservative leadership.
