Yeah, conservatives don’t seem to understand the source of the internal trade barriers issue. Canada is a very loose federation, and the provinces jealously protect their prerogatives. Conservative provincial governments, in particular, have always opposed the federal government overstepping their authority.
I mean it’s great conservatives are getting onboard with greater federal authority in this country. But let’s not pretend this was ever anything but a problem created by the provinces.

How would you avoid that though? Tax cut in the lowest bracket unless your total income is above a threshould?
So now you complicate the tax code where instead of a single rate per tax bracket you have multiple rates and have to figure out which one applies?
It would of course be better to just nudge the rates up in a higher bracket to get the result you want, but tax increases are politically toxic.

Jagmeet's GST cut is actually more wealthy-favouring than the income tax cut, because the wealthy have more expensive cell phone plans, heating bills, etc.

I wonder what Rempel, who wrote this article debunking the WEF conspiracy theory, thinks of PP's promise to ban MPs from attending the WEF, which implicitly backs the theory.

Honestly wokeness peaked a few years ago, maybe several years ago now. The classic wokeness people harped on has really simmered down in recent years to where it's not in your face any more.
You know who/what is? MAGA/maple-MAGA types who've responded with their own insufferable version of right wokeness where they're similarly hyper sensitive, accusatory and taken on a victim narrative.
They're also the only crowd that habitually fires off the word woke nowadays in its talking points.
They just look like crazies railing against ghosts at this point and have lost the plot (reality).

If you dare, CBC has their vote compass up. I envision that if I went to the Epoch Times version... no matter what I picked for answers it would say I should vote for the CPC.
I'm a boring arsed Centrist myself, pretty close to the dead center economically and socially when you do the 3D view. So these days that puts me closer to the Liberals than this version of the Conservatives.

You just raise the higher tax bracket % tax rate to claw back the discounts on the lower ones, such that high earners pay the same.

It put me right where expected, between the liberals and conservatives but leaning Liberal. Which is exactly how i feel right now.
All other reasons excluded, Carney is just straight up more qualified for the job.

You would think they’d want some honest answers to help tailor their strategy, but the arrogance is just so high that they don’t care. Asking questions like this is just looking for people to pat their back on how awesome their plan is.

They already did this with the personal exemption limit. The complication is already in place. I think you are better off adjusting a higher bracket lower and a lower bracket higher and keeping the system universal then creating carve outs but the system for those carve outs exists.

I honestly think it’s fantastic. Don’t hide anything and just get all those dumb views out in the open so that people can see who they really are.

I'm quite literally in the middle in between the LPC and CPC, but I already knew that. Yet some posters here always try to pass me as a raging deep conservative in the past simply because I hated the Trudeau-Singh coalition government.
There's somethings I have very strong opinions on (immigration levels for example were outrageous before the clampdown), which I assume caused me to deviate a bit on the social conservative side. My answer there puts me in PPC land but everything else was always aligned to Liberal or CPC.
This appears seems to have been somewhat adjusted for Carney's Liberals, which I think have gotten themselves more on the economic right, but remaining social progressive.
NDP in lala land there with the Green Party, no wonder they are down to 7% in the Angus Reid polls.

I think you should stop worrying about what other people think.
