This is so bad, I know she ran as a spiteful culture warrior, and I know she was elected as a spiteful culture warrior, but it just reflects so poorly on all of us as Albertans that we have a leader that can't even just grab the rope and participate in the tug of war when it benefits her to do so.

A real estate colleague of mine has announced he's running for the Liberals in Vancouver East. A really nice guy that everyone in the industry likes and respects.
I hope he does well.

Alberta could benefit in a half dozen ways. Alcohol sales, agriculture products, processed food products, oil & gas, refined petroleum products, list goes on.
There is a reason people have been attaching numbers like $250b in GDP growth if the barriers are knocked down. Even if that is only 75% of what we achieve it would still be a massive win for every province and as a collective the whole of Canada.
At this point I am fairly certain that if Carney said come hell or high water we are building a pipeline east she would still find some kind of issue with it.
I get after 9 years of the clown show being in charge having a fairly high level of skepticism, but a lot of what Carney is saying is what the center right in Canada has been asking for a long time now. The support Trudeau at all cost Liberals just haven't clued into that yet, though I wouldn't imagine they will ever clue in because they still think their team is winning and they're most of a bunch of morons.

I saw a link to the Conservatives "pre-election strategy poll" on their site, and good god. Even if I liked their policy ideas, the thought of having people who talk like this running the country is nauseating:
Quote:
1. An election might be only a few days away. Will you be voting for Pierre Poilievre and common sense Conservatives?*
Yes – Canada First!
No – we should not put Canada First
...
3. Carbon Tax Carney is BAD for Canada. Do you agree?*
4. The Liberals’ woke obsessions have eroded our national pride. Do you agree?
YES – Canada must celebrate—NOT tear down—our heroes and history.
No – I like woke cancel culture
5. Pierre Poilievre will go ahead with the Bring it Home Tax Cut—the BIGGEST and most PATRIOTIC tax cut in Canadian history. Do you think that’s a good idea?*
Yes – Axe the tax and Bring it Home!
No – The government should tax and spend more of my money
...
7. The Liberals have weakened our military. Conservatives will strengthen it. Do you support strengthening our military?*
Yes – Warrior culture—NOT woke culture.
No – I don’t want our allies to respect Canada

Is it SO MUCH to ask for a reasonable and not so utterly childish Conservative party?
Good lord I hate severe partisan politics.

Why is that survey worded in PP slang/slogans?
Is their lexicon really that limited?
How do they expect to appeal to non maple-MAGA lynch mob types (i.e. the educated) with goofy David Staples-esque content?
Carney has easily played to PPs turf to pick off voters from him (which PP has bemoaned as plagiarism). Can the conservatives at least try to play to Carney's voting base? Lol.
Cringe stuff.

The CPC really have handed over the keys to the party to the furious, terminally online nutbars. Nobody with any kind of background in professional marketing, polling, or political strategizing had any hand in that poll.
If they’ve let the nutters take over communications, why should Canadians believe they won’t let the nutters take over the actual running of the country?

Just thought I’d note that the massive, patriotic tax cut is a little less than what Poilievre claims. Sure, it’s a tax cut, but then the credits are also cut by that percentage, so it’s less than what’s advertised in that sense.

I mean it is laughable no doubt, but equally laughable is Carney pledging to eliminate decades worth of hard fought internal trade barriers by July 1 and everyone lapping it up like he's the greatest leader ever.
Almost as cringe as 'the budget will balance itself.'

The interesting thing is that with the Trump back drop it’s politically benefiting to cooperate. So it might be possible for the feds to lead the provinces in eliminating barriers.
The trade barriers are fundamentally a provincial problem not a federal one so really it’s a leadership test rather than a policy test. Things like the size of French writing on cereal boxes will derail this.
