But you atleast have to feel out the offers.
Hopefully it's just playing hard to get unless it's an exceptional offer.

Conroy said that all offers so far have been low ball. So I'm OK with the Flames staying pat with the current roster if the return for any veteran is less now than could be expected at the draft.

Yeah, I hope he gets claimed. It’s not working for him here. Maybe he’ll stick somewhere else.

It’s got to be waivers for Miro. I don’t think anyone would trade for him.

Maybe Larionov had it wrong recommending he change from F to D in Junior, Huska should throw him on a line and see what he's got, ha.

Similar to Barrie, Miromanov may be a more attractive trade target after he is waived but I doubt there would be much interest in Miro as defensive depth for a playoff-bound team.

Yeah, why not? A big defensively responsible winger is a good thing. We have lots of wingers, but then we also have lots of D men too.

I hope "lets keep this group together and keep pushing for the playoffs" means until we get a great offer.

Conroy just needs to keep mining for those Frost type deals. Get the player you want and take some salary along with it to lessen the acquisition cost. Unless it's Andersson, then you're cashing in a big chip.

It probably does. In fact I think it absolutely does.
The fact that teams keep calling proves that they know this too.

Still think Cozens + Samuelssson is something that could make sense depending on the cost and how much Buffalo wants to get out of those contracts

It was very quiet today, I can confirm that CGY has set up shop in Dallas for the deadline day bonanza. All hands on deck.
Calgary’s #1 issue remains the same, “what is this team?” The west being abysmal this year coupled with Wolf being an absolute stud has put them in this very peculiar position of limbo mode as they’re not quite bad enough to suck but not good enough to win consistently either.
Craig’s vision remains clear, but how he addresses this deadline remains unclear as the players haven’t given him enough for rentals, and so young assets remains priority one.
I know they still want a center
They still want to get younger
They want depth defensively minded dman with grit to their game
They would like more picks.
Would like to move UFAs and are open to moving others for the right price.
Underwhelming offers on some of our guys currently
Market is very weird so far, lots of bubble teams who all need to decide if buyers or sellers.
Trade I mentioned earlier appears to be dead, sounds like they drifted apart on value vs price at this point.
Feeling is moves will be made, but timing is key
Reiterated that Andersson being untouchable isn’t written in pen, very valuable asset that will gain momentum as we approach the deadline.

At the start of every year I write down what my goals are for the year, so that when I'm in the thick of things I can refocus.
Right now Craig has a 50% chance of a 9th place finish, a 70% chance of a 1st round exit, and a 85% chance of a 2nd round exit.
Also next year we're likely worse than we are this season.
Is that the position he wanted to be in at the start of the season?

I'm actually really surprised Buffalo hasn't done anything so far. Ieam their seasons wrecked anyways. Kevyn Adams is probably so afraid of his own shadow right now he's too scared to make a move.

Flames are rebuilding, but in a playoff spot. No big name UFAs. It certainly feels like only small moves will be made, if anything at all. A small buy? A small sell? Middleman move?
Not many had the Flames in a playoff spot so close to the deadline this season, that's for sure. I wouldn't know what to do if I was Conroy right now. Heck, maybe he makes a big move. I guess nothing really would surprise me since I have absolutely no idea which way he is even leaning towards. Definitely adds a bit of intrigue this way! This is definitely fun!

I fully believe Conroy sees the forest through the trees. He's knows what the team is. The Wolf thing shouldn't have surprised anybody if they were paying attention.
The rest of the league sucking arse doesn't camouflage the Flames issues one bit either. They know where they're at.
I've been calling for LHS upgrades for a while leading up to his and that Mythical unicorn RHS center. That's it. I'm sure Conroy can address at least one of those things.
Man they can take a ton of salary. Hopefully they use it.

My dream would be if Conroy gets value for Anderson, Kadri, and Coleman at the deadline. I think Craig has a plan to get younger and more skilled. Clear cap space to make a reverse Montreal deal or two. Weaponize cap space for a few years until they’re ready to compete. I still don’t understand why that deal wasn’t the worse of our and Florida’s picks. What an absolute fleecing. They got two 1sts for free. Hurts my soul.

My dream trade for deadline is that the Habs somehow need to get cap space and return the conditional 1st back.

Because they were the only team with a spot for Monahan and the cap space to take on his contract. It was their deal or no deal at all.

They got one 1st for $6 million, which is not free by any means. They got a second 1st after re-signing Monahan to a contract after he was eligible for UFA – by which point he'd probably have left Calgary anyway. That pick didn't even come from the Flames, so it has nothing to do with the original deal.
But I suppose if that's what you need to believe in order to be unhappy, you can fill your boots.

Cap space is worth next to nothing after this season. with cap skyrocketing over the next 3 seasons.
