It looks like there are many buyers this year. I hope we trade 2 of Andersson, Kadri or Coleman for a good return.

Calgary has been the opposite of that. Sure, Calgary has done well in regular seasons, but it is absolutely no contest comparing Calgary with Edmonton in terms of fan creation and excitement. Edmonton is growing their fan base, while Calgary is shrinking. That's exactly the issue I am pointing at.
I'd be super interested in a real statistical poll on this. I wonder what the delta is between positive change in one fanbase and negative change in the other, over whatever time period. I feel like even moving in the opposite directions, the spread couldn't be more than 25K or so? That's just a number pulled out of the air completely, not based on anything.

Prepare to be disappointed then. None of this is happening.

On Insider trading they said the Flames are still getting calls on Andersson, but the Flames are indicating they will deal with Rasmus Andersson's future in the off season and lets keep this group together and keep pushing for the playoffs.

Chris Johnston doesn't think anything significant will happen before the deadline for Calgary or Ottawa.

2. I think the return on him right now will be underwhelming to a lot of Flames fans given his season.

Whatever happens It's pretty clear the Weegar is our clear cut number 1 and this season I would even say that Bahl is our 2nd most impactful defenseman.
I wouldn't be comfortable with giving Andersson any more than 6.5/yr for 8 years.

To be honest I wouldn't be comfortable re-signing Andersson period. He starts the new deal at 30. He wants a raise. If you don't end up trading him, the next best option in my view would be to walk away.

Man, that's both understandable and disappointing IMO. I can see not wanting to blow things up given they're in WC2, and to reward the group so to speak with a push for the playoffs... But I would hope that there's a path forward to do this, while moving on from assets that may not return as much down the line.

I suppose it's all just about value in the end and can only trust that the lack of movement is truly related to poor offers and not a desire to "keep the band together."

The path forward is that they're not ufas. Hopefully they do the right thing in the offseason. For now, makes total sense to make a push with this group.

Whatever market is there for Andersson now will also be there at the draft and in the summer - his season this year hasn't been great but a defenseman of his calibre costing only 2.3 million for next season (assuming we retain 50%) will still get you a haul whether it's now or in the offseason.

You don't look at how the players on the team have worked their asses off to be in a playoff spot at this point in the season and trade away assets that are not pending UFAs unless you are improving the team now and in the future. It sends the wrong message to reward the players' hard work by pulling the rug out from underneath them. That's not to say that the Flames should spend anything other than minimal assets to add to the team for the stretch run.

Pending UFAs are different, they lose all value at the end of the season. The thing is, the Flames have no pending UFAs who are worth anything.

The big moves will happen in the offseason, when there are many more potential buyers and limited NTCs have less impact as a result.

This is my hope. I don't care if they don't trade him if the offers aren't there.

But you atleast have to feel out the offers.

Hopefully it's just playing hard to get unless it's an exceptional offer.

It’s got to be waivers for Miro. I don’t think anyone would trade for him.

Makes sense it would be waivers. Not sure you take a player aside to tell them they’ll be traded tomorrow or Friday.
