I never said it’s not going to cost anything, why lie? I’ve asked what it’s going to cost, the only person who could actually wager something was GGG.

You said it’s going to, so lay it on the table. Make up the numbers if you want. Say steel is taxed at an extra 2%. Now tell me how much more a trip to the grocery store is going to cost me. I’ll wait.

They sure do pop up out of the woodwork. He used to be a Wildrose member with Smith. You'll be shocked to know the "Education" section on his Linkedin is empty, so you know, Journalist, Economist, the do it all type.

The one sentence paragraphs are a dead giveaway of a hack.

Oh Pierre, is that the best you got? Cribbing Trueadues strongest points, but so flaccidly they have no emotional impact?

Holy crap. That comment from Carney that “we don’t use much steel anyway” (paraphrasing) tells me all I need to know about his economic intellect.

I mean, how short sighted and narrow minded can you possibly be?

I really thought he would give the Liberals a decent boost if he won the leadership race. Now, I’m not so sure.

Let’s be honest about Carney’s comments, it isn’t that he is a complete idiot, he’s being a politician. I would hope he knows we all use steel, and that costs incurred on producers will increases costs for everyone down the road. But he’s trying to sell it to people without critical thinking or who are blindly partisan that it won’t ‘really’ affect them.

It’s similar to Trump convincing some Americans that Tarrifs are paid by foreign countries, not by the American consumer.

It’s still going to cost everyone, but it looks different so he can tell people it is different, and it’s only the big bad large companies that produce things that you don’t directly buy that he’s making pay, not you, the voter. Because he wants your vote, and oil and steel companies don’t vote.

Liberals continue their self serving ways by failing to recall Parliament in the face of one of the most serious threats to Canada’s interests ever.

Yeah - the conservatives calling for the house to reconvene is all about constructive debate on how to respond to the US tariffs. It’s not self serving at all.

I'm not going to defend either side here and I dont really know much about Carney but...when it comes to finances I'm skeptical about Resumes.

13 years with a Bank that is only not bankrupt because the US Government saved it.

'Steered Canada' through a Financial Crisis that...he was working for an Investment Bank that was a fairly large cause of that crisis in the first place, maybe he had a bit of an inside track and was just playing for the other team.

Being on boards of financial and economic bodies is dubious, some are active and important and others are rubber-stampers, hard to judge which he was.

Again, I know very little about him overall, but just looking at it one could also say...."Where Mark Carney goes...there tends to be a crisis."

I think he’s being a poor politician. That sound bite is going to be used to paint him as an out of touch intellectual.

People are too dumb to accept the nuanced answer of there will be a small but not significant effect on the price of everything relative to other macro economic affects. So instead he has to say something about it not affecting people and he said the wrong thing.

I think this affects his chances at winning, he needs to be a better politician.

So you agree MPs should not have the opportunity to debate Canada’s response. Ok.

Yes, Canada needs to present a united front here on how to deal with Trump in the initial stages of the Tarrifs. Question period and toppling government would not be helpful right now.

I'm kind of on both sides of the fence here.

On the one hand Trudeau addressed it, I havent listened to all of his speech, I went cross-eyed and nearly comatose after his WW1 analogies and then picked up the Coles' notes on the rest.

On the other hand, I'm getting 'Political Brinkmanship' vibes. Lots of saber-rattling and thats about it.

Is Monday a holiday or something? Why are they implementing these on a Tuesday? Maybe a day for cooler heads to prevail?
