If tariffs on critical minerals isn’t enough, rumours suggest that Canada will halt power supply to America prior to the Super Bowl.

The NEP didn’t provide for “one company”. Wherever did you get that idea?

Punxsutawney Phil predicts another 6 weeks of winter... with the tariff- are we looking at having to add an extra week and a half?

There could be a 6 hour blackout next Sunday between 5PM and 11PM Eastern standard time that could get some people's attention.

Do these morons actually think threats will work? Or is it all for their base’s consumption?

He would routinely lecture them on all sorts of woke issues rather than working to diversify Canadian trade. His entire energy strategy was to become completely dependent on the US market. Canadians had to wait until Trudeau came in to finally have a PM who wanted to build a pipeline to get oil to China.
Canceling Gateway was a heck of a way for Trudeau to show that. I will give him credit for keeping the TMX dream alive but he was backed into a corner there, and it was a mess somewhat of his own creation.

Too bad Keystone XL was not completed. Might have ensured no tariffs on energy.

But ya we needed Gateway and Energy East.

Very classy. Nothing classier than making fun of a guy in a wheelchair.

Gateway was literally never happening though. There were 200 conditions to even get it approved, and that was under Harper. Then you had a pile of FN challenges that were preparing to run that to the Supreme Court. I understand that people hate Trudeau and want to pin this all on Justin being anti oil, but that’s the reality of the situation.

It’s like people are already discounting how much opposition there was (and added expense, trials and tribulations) get TMX built. That was a freaking expansion along an existing path, where it was far more cut and dried. Just building Gateway or other major projects is fraught with difficulties and challenges.

And…not saying this is you, but conflating this trade way with “we need new markets” as a solution is just hilarious to me. I agree we do. But, we’ll just go ahead and set that up literally tomorrow to avert the tariff impact starting Tuesday?

The orange buffoon is going on about us becoming the 51st state again this morning. No mention of raising the tariffs in response to Canada’s retaliation though, so that’s a positive at least. Who knows? Christ, he’s insufferable.

Guy in a wheelchair gave up his rights to be respected when he tweeted that threat. "Ooo, we must respect all the ####faces, no matter how much ####ery they present!" No, that's not how it works.

There is some weird ideas about the NEP in Alberta. Growing up in Alberta and living there for the first 35 years of my life I have heard a bunch of them.

I remember in undergrad doing a presentation on the National Oil Policy. My prof said that it is actually called the National Energy Policy. I said no, it is called the National Oil Policy and it is in reference to the 12 year period that Ontario and every province west of Ontario had to buy overpriced Alberta oil to ensure that Alberta would actually have an oil industry. I feel like my Canadian history prof actually had to go home to do research because he had never heard of the NOP.

This could finally unite Canada and get our #### together. We have been screwing the pooch on a bunch of problems and now we are going to solve them. It's a good opportunity to take a good look in the mirror. Or we won't and we will show the rest of the world we are as useless everyone thinks we are.

Normally, I would agree but it is someone who threatened Canada for responding to continued threats of annexation and the institution of a trade war with the express purpose of damaging the Canadian economy. This guy and his gang of oligarchs are attempting to ruin a country that I love, a country I signed up to defend, and a country that unfortunately relies on the United States (and the United States relies on us as well). The megalomaniacs in charge deserve no sympathy or empathy.

He is an embodiment of everything that is wrong with Republican politics with regressive policies that harm the most vulnerable in society. He is someone who has instituted oppressive abortion laws, pardoned racist murderers, supports gun rights, was an anti-science weirdo during covid, opposes same sex marriage, has rallied against immigration, doesn't believe in climate change, was supporting Trump's claims that the election was stolen, has continued to criminalize marijuana against judicial advice... and for someone in a wheelchair is somehow unsupportive of inclusion policies.

Seriously - while I don't believe in a god, I think if one did exist he is the reason a tree fell on such a horrible person. What an #######.
