So you do care. You could 'care less' but that implies that some care must exist in order for a lower-plane of caring to be possible.

Thank you for your care. Your attention in this matter is considered.

Also Ron can get lost anytime. Sooner would be preferable.

No, he really doesn't. If someone on the panel starts discussing the Flames, MacLean interrupts them then immediately starts talking about McDavid or the Oilers. He did this exact thing several times on yesterdays broadcast.

There are two schools of thought:
1. That he betrayed his long time friend to protect his own ass. From what I understand they no longer speak to each other or anything.
2. That he should have intervened more forcefully when Cherry was going off about immigrants. As host he failed in his duties to keep that segment on track.

I think both are true.

Remember that interview last spring when he fired a few 70s or 80s references to a young 20s something player on the leafs I think?

Kid had nothing in response while he rambled on hoping to evoke some sort of recognition in a kid that wasn't alive then.

He's welcome to retire from HNIC to the senile, 80s loving pastures of Edmonton though. Seems to be where he belongs.

Rent free in some posters heads literally. Some people they have like 5000 posts complaining about them. Like that John Hamm meme, I don’t think about the Oilers at all.

Ron also showed up to Cherry's 90th birthday uninvited and scootched himself in for an awkward photo for his social media.

Just No Good behaviour all around.

I am no Cherry fan or apologist, but it seems absurd to me that Ron was kept on and then brought back to host the HNIC.

I enjoy historical tidbits of hockey, but when it comes from Ron, it seems like it is a terrible-tasting medication that I am forced to swallow, rather than a pleasant piece of candy. I think he detracts from the panel. Say what you will about George Stroumbolopoulos, but I felt that the panel were showed more personality and were more engaging. Ron makes it too much about Ron IMO, and hurries the panelists along, only to wax profoundly about some barely connected dot that maybe 5 people on the planet want to hear about.

I also do think that being the host of a nation-wide show, you need to be more aware of how much you bring up teams over others. Yes, McDavid is arguably the most offensively gifted player on the planet right now, but there are other superstars I would love to hear from as well that actually played on a certain night, but we have to listen to McDavid's previous games the night before. I get that you want to pump up superstars and talk about them, but McDavid is not the ONLY superstar in hockey.

I used to smoke and quit some years ago. I do remember that I would feel rushed to smoke and hurry back to listen to the panel. Now? I wash my dishes, or do a clean up, or whatever it is that I do and usually miss the panel now. I don't bother to watch it, unless I have absolutely nothing else to do, and even then I usually have it on the background while looking up something else on my phone.
They should have been more patient with Strombo to make HNIC his own, or they should have went with someone else. I don't know who they should replace him with. I know David Amber is being groomed for the job, but I haven't really enjoyed him much either, even though I really thought I would. I am having a difficult time imagining who should sit in that chair, and I can't really think of any. There are many personalities that are well spoken and that I do enjoy listening to, but they would make for better panelists than host. I can't really think of someone who would make a great host. I am sure there are many that would, at least if they are given some rope, but I can't think of any.

I think for too long, he simply detracts from HNIC instead of adding to it.

Just Ron? I would rather Sportsnet go away entirely. For the past few years I've been streaming the local broadcasts of the opposing team whenever possible and 9 times out of 10 these American channels have a better product.

Never thought I'd be cheering on Amazon to take over from a Canadian company but Rogers has done the impossible

Yesterday was the pinnacle. Pre game goes from Botterill to Bieksa, to Hrudey and they're spending a good amount of time discussing the Flames, it goes to Ron as he is going to start the Huberdeau interview with all 4 of them to ask questions, instead Ron, "by the way, the Oilers won today and Gene Principe did a great job on blah, blah, blah, I know you guys saw that, right? You guys saw Gene? Anyway, here's Jonathan Huberdeau"

After the 3 or 4 minute interview they finish talking Flames and then go to some quick Oiler highlights before the break. Which is fine, they just played, but Ron would have known this was next so there was absolutely no need in mid-Flames pre-game report to chime in about the Oilers before leading to Huberdeau.

Disgusting.

Why would a superior city have an inferiority complex with Edmonton of all places?

There was Toronto/Ottawa, New Jersey/Montreal, and Calgary/Minnesota about to begin. Then Ron MacLean has to interrupt all the excitement for those games that probably a million people are tuning in for to give a skiing update which would have never occurred had the winner of the competition not been on McDavid's line when they were kids. It's so obvious, but, sure, you can choose to ignore it if you want. When we call it out, it isn't an inferiority complex.
