I get the vibe that is what might end up happening.

I think they will trade Andersson if they are closer to the bottom ten than the playoff race by the deadline. The pick is what it is though. I was really only worried about getting the ultimate screw job of giving away a 2nd overall or something. Giving Montreal the 11th would suck but I don’t think it will be a franchise altering miss.

For the very wealthy - less so.
But it doesn't really matter. You seem to think that NTCs are just handed out willy nilly. They are part of the negotiation.

I have been coming to this conclusion as well. Unless the team suddenly loses ten in a row i dont see bottom ten. However i dont see easy deals to makes us better. Buffalo wants a center back for cozens the thing we have the least of.
Not sure how many other viable options are out there.
Dont see a lot of other options and help on defence as well were just among many looking for it.
Unless the team takes a nosedive like wolf or kadri getting injured i dont think Anderson is going anywhere. Kadri you have to replace him immediately. Coleman maybe but he likes it here how much value does he have? Backs? Low probability.
Yup fould be a very quiet deadline maybe just a minor move or two.

That is probably for the best, Yegor is probably a better player than Cozens let alone the other assets that Seravelli had on that deal.

The polar opposite of Level 5, this is the owner who doesn’t seem to be aware that they’re supposed to want to win.
...these owners are often involved in all sorts of other elements of the franchise. They’re happy to gladhand with corporate sponsors. They’re probably involved in some admirable community initiatives.

It fits my perception because ever since I can remember it has been "make the playoffs and anything can happen".

I would argue the opposite. I think it’s Edwards refusal to take an intentional step backwards that has the the team to its consistent state of never truly being good enough year over year.
I think he has his hands all over the steering wheel and probably has done 2004.
Level 5 ‘pretty soon no o e wants to work for them which leads to suboptimal hires l, which leads to more firings and…..you get the idea’.
Think he also has some level 1 in there.

Yeah, I think he wants to win and has an idea about how to do it but I don't think he makes a lot of decisions directly. I think Pegula is a true number 7

Flames are 4 points up on the bottom 10.
We have a tough schedule ahead of us and a lot of the middling teams are stepping up after slow starts (Montreal, Detroit, Ottawa, StL). Plus I feel like NYR and BOS could still surge back into the picture based on previous experience.
I can easily imagine the Flames making it to the bottom 10 by the deadline, selling Anderson/Vladar and dropping lower. If Wolf falters, or we get a key injury...it is even more likely.
I still hope we end up in the bottom 10 this year (and next).

Flames won’t trade Andersson this season they will make him an offer in the summer and see where that goes. Andersson is open to that.
Also for those who want to get worked up. Friedman said if they are in the mix they might look at the rental market for a center if they are unable to find a long term fit in season

My concern is the amount of teams. Detroit and philly seem to be surging a bit but havent shown to this point they can sustain it. Agree would love to land top ten.

Yes, 4 points, but there are still a large number of teams between us and #10.
But Calgary's -14 goal differential is 11th worse in the league. Unless that improves, they likely are not a playoff team. Positive goal differentials and playoffs go hand and hand. Usually only 1-2 exceptions per year.

My money is on Andersson staying. He has said he wants to stay, Conroy has said he wants him to stay (multiple occasions), not a single insider I’m aware of has Andersson listed on a trade board or being discussed as ‘available’ or ‘out there’. Not one and in fact, it has been the opposite.
Short of some team giving the Flames another that they can’t refuse (who’s doing that?) I think Andersson is here until the draft, at least.
I think all this Andersson talk is just chum in the water for the rebuild cohort.

That would make a lot of sense. Nemec and a pick or maybe more as part of a bigger deal,
To NJ
Miller
Soucy
To Van
Nemec
Mercer

Nemec would get a good piece for then to get in a Jt miller deal.
Flames spending assets on a rental center would be beyond stupid. Unless it's a single really late pick.

That is 3 insiders saying they want to keep him. Maybe they are leaking this to the media so a team comes in with an offer to make it easy to deal him, but more and more I am resigned to the fact they will just sign him to a retirement contract and dance around thinking yay what a win.
The 2nd part just ties in with the Andersson stuff. Just stuff rebuilding teams don't do.
Lets hope its just smoke.

Honestly being at the game in Vancouver last night and the mood really felt like "This might be the game that causes change, and could be Miller's last game as a Canuck".
Fans were booing the Canucks in the third period and to start the third period. Miller was blamed partially for 2 goals against, partially benched, and his body language was terrible. Lose 5-1 in a pretty embarrassing effort to a division rival to drop to 2-5-3 in their last 10.
Devils make a lot of sense TBH.
Pieces like Mercer or Siegenthaller could be intriguing to the Canucks for sure, as well as Nemec of course.
Also would be kind of funny to see how Hughes would react if one of his buddies in Miller, goes to play with his two brothers and Markstrom.
Miller + Hoglander for Mercer + Nemec could be something
