They have some really interesting prospects NOT named Cozens that play C:

C/W Isak Rosen is a former first-rounder who has done well for himself in the AHL the last few years, and has 24 points in 24 games with Rochester this season. He's a speedster with well-balanced offense.

C/W Jiri Kulich is a competitive, two-way speedster with a bit of power in his game and a 6'1" frame.

C Anton Wahlberg is big and skilled with a tight defensive presence who is still getting used to playing in NA (9 points in 23 AHL games).

C Noah Ostlund is a bit smaller at 5"11", and only has 6 AHL games under his belt this season with 1 point, but he's shown himself to be another speedy offensive forward overseas. He was picked 16th-overall in 2022.

I don't think they will part with C Konsta Helenius.

Outside of konsta if you could nab one which one would it be? Rosen seems obvious or is there more to see?

I also believe we need centers at all levels if a guy projects as a middle six Center its a valuable commodity? Especially when we don’t really have anything that projects as one.

You're exactly right, we need centers who can play in the top-9, not just a #1 C. If I had my choice, I would almost like getting Kulich as I would Cozens. He has a real competitive fire in his belly that I believe will drive him to succeed. He might be more of a middle-6 C though, but he'll help your team win.

This isn’t our year or close to it.

If you can’t take advantage of a Drury (and honestly I think Conroy isn’t that type of hardball GM)

Just wait until the trade deadline.

Or go and trade Andersson for Peterson from Vancouver and even give em a pick to even it out.

Because you say so?

Here is what i see

Vladar has played 17 games now.

Among those that have played that many or more seems to be a decent starting point as a comparison.

So,

He is 27th of 28 in save%. Better than only Georgiev.

He is 26th of 28 in GAA.

On the same team behind the same defense he gives up .79 more goals a game and saves .27 fewer shots than his stable mate.

Those are "bad" numbers.

Now show me your argument as to why he is "good" and Im all about admitting Im judging him unfairly.

I don't get the constant defending of a guy that is clearly among the bottom performers in the league...but he wears the flaming C so he's off limits?

Nope.

I don’t want to see Conroy trading assets as much as I want to see him weaponizing our cap space. That’s the biggest resource we have, even if it’s “unsexy”.

His advanced stats (and normal ) were also terrible last year as well

He’s not a good goalie . He’s bottom half of backups

I still honestly think Krebs is destined to end up in Calgary. He's getting "Bennett'd" in Buffalo for some reason but I think he's great, kid has a great attitude and non-stop motor, I don't know why coaches don't utilize him better. Just feels like he's destined to pop off somewhere else and he's a local Okotoks kid. Can probably get him for cheap.

Krebs and a pick for Coleman? Something like that would be just dandy imo.

I really don't know why Coleman would waive to leave a city he loves for a tire fire of a team in dirty old Buffalo.

I can’t see the Flames trading Coleman this year and if they did they likely send him to a preferred destination like Dallas or back to Tampa, NJ, or Florida/Vegas. In fact the only one of the “veteran 6” I see having a chance to move this year would be Rasmus but only if a team steps up with an offer Conny can’t say no to.

He's got a 10 team list... But you're right, Buffalo is probably not on it.

Aside, I love Coleman, but it chaps my ass real hard that we give out trade protection like candy. Middle lineup players should not have trade protection.

I think that is a horribly short sighted, and ultimately self defeating choice that the flames should not make. In fact, when I have been alarmed previously that they would make choices like this, I have been assured that Conroy is operating differently.

I could see them doing what you say, but it will be the wrong choice. And I will lose confidence in Conroy as a consequence.

But it's one of the only tools the Flames have to sign players. They need to target guys that want to be here, often for family reasons. And if that's the incentive, they want assurance they aren't going to be traded somewhere else.

Overall would we not agree that Coleman is a good signing?

What's alarming about it?
Weegar: too important to the blueline particularly if the intent is to move Rasmus
Huberdeau: Not moveable
Kadri: Hard to move, trade protection
Coleman: Trade protection
Backlund: Moveable at the end of the current deal.

There's valid reasons for each. I don't see anything alarming. Just realities.

Yeah, I think Andersson is the only player that might get traded this year unless Dallas wants Coleman at his full cap hit or something. Kadri probably won’t move but it’d be an off-season deal if he does get traded IMO.

I'll take my chances on reviving a 23yo, 17th overall pick, if the cost is a 3rd.

Yeah, that’s an easy decision. The odds Krebs figures it out are much higher than a 3rd rounder ever playing a game let alone being a regular NHLer that contributes.
