True enough. Though he's had some rough nights just lately.

Sorry, your point was that Vladar was bad. That's wrong. Just because Wolf is extremely good doesn't mean Vladar has to be bad. He's just not nearly as good as Wolf.

Anderson is only signed for next year, there is zero pressure to trade him now

What are Bahl’s and Andersons +/- over the last 15 games? Has to be pretty brutal.

Rasmus -5, Bahl -1. Not what you were expecting were you?

Worth more for team trading having 2 playoffs than one.

Definitely part of Andersson's appeal is his sweetheart team-friendly deal. I would think that this season's deadline would be the best opportunity to trade Andersson, but I guess we will have to wait and see how he continues performing until then, and what that market is shaping up to be. Sometimes they are buyer's markets.

C4L with the truth as per usual.
I also think it's just time to move on from that era of the flames. We don't need to and shouldn't resign this very good player, and that's ok. As a consequence of that fact, we should trade him at his maximum value, which is this year.

I agree 100% with what you have written. I don’t want to be the team that signs him for that sort of term, I’d rather move him.

If there's a broker willing to eat a bit of cap to allow for double retention, his cap hit for next season would be tiny! $1,137,500!

I think you wait to see if a contender overpays for Andersson’s services. With the extra year on his deal I think a lot of contenders would be interested. I bet we could retain too, but I doubt it would be half (I say about max 25%) unless the offer was substantial enough to do it.
One team I could see doing it is the Carolina Hurricanes. Would look phenomenal with Slavin, Burns is getting old, and Orlov’s cap hit will be expired. Rasmus is also a player I could see Carolina re-signing to an 8 year deal if he really likes it there.
It’s not the end of the world if we don’t deal him at the deadline. The off-season is sometimes the best time to deal because everyone starts at the same level, so middling and contending teams make deals. For instance, I could definitely see Buffalo making a pitch for Andersson in the off-season when they’ve got a lot to figure out and are tired of picking top 15.

Are there any teams with a bunch of younger centers that need a defenseman?

But there are teams that will and should sign Anderson to a seven or eight year deal. If a team is focused on the 3-4 years after his current deal expires, and they need a value plus RHD then Anderson on that term is an asset. Whoever will sign Anderson is buying the first half of the deal, understanding after year four things may get rough. That’s the cost to compete now, the kind of thing the Flames used to do.
I don’t see anything to suggest the Flames see themselves as a team positioned to win a cup now, and from the periphery it appears Anderson shares this view, so I’d have to believe Anderson is skating for another team before the beginning of next year, and possibly by the deadline if a contender steps up their offer.

If there is one team in the NHL that shies away from signing 8 year deals with older players, it is Carolina.
To them, he would be strictly a rental.

What makes you say that? Slavic and Aho signed long terms deals in their late 20’s early 30’s

That’s two elite, home-grown players. Against that they’ve let the following players walk: Hamilton, Teravainen, Trochek, Pesce, Skjei, Guentzel. Andersson is a lot more like the latter group.

I think they took a pretty hard run at re-signing Guentzel. That was less them letting him walk, and more him walking.
I do think that there may have been a slightly change in philosophy where they are open to those longer-term deals.

Aho's contract kicked in when he was 27.
