Oh so you assume every one of those guys wanted to re-sign but it was the Hurricanes that said no? I thought they tried hard on Guentzel but he wasn’t staying and the same with Dougie?

Winnipeg has Yager or Lambert. That’s where I’d start personally. Either one of those two would be good.
HM Bourque in Dallas, Buffalo’s Benson/Kulich (both are probably better off as wingers though)

It's been well known for years that Carolina does not mind letting players play out their contract and letting them walk.
Could they sign Andersson long term? Of course they could. But it's not something that they historically do.
I think they were not willing to give as much term to Guntzel as he wanted.
Hamilton I don't recall tbh.

Doubt it. They’ve been able to handle losing UFAs on defense when they had Pesce and Hamilton, but with Burns on the brink of retirement I would wager they’d want a top pairing player like Andersson, who would be a fantastic #2 behind Slavin over there.
As mentioned they just re-signed their core, it’s time to grab more top end players to push them over. Andersson is exactly that.

This is what Friedman reported on it:
Friedman stated that Guentzel's camp initially asked Carolina for an eight year, $64 million deal and that while the Canes did try to haggle and negotiate, they eventually agreed to that ask on Thursday.

Tyler Johnson (Bos) on termination waivers. Assume he has a deal in Europe in place.

With Kakko being traded now I wonder if any other young players that are under performing start to get moved, some of the centers that might be of interest to the Flames are:
2018 NHL Draft:
Kotkaniemi: 24; 31 GP, 5 G, 15 Pts
Hayton: 24; 31 GP, 5 G, 13 PTS
2019 NHL Draft
Dach: 23; 31 GP, 2 G, 9 PTS
Cozens: 23; 32 GP, 7 G, 14 PTS
Zegras: 23; 24 GP, 4 G, 10 PTS (Out 6-8 weeks)
Krebs: 23; 31 GP, 3 G, 10 PTS
Pinto: 24; 23 GP, 4 G, 6 PTS
2020 NHL Draft
Mercer: 23; 34 GP, 7 G, 16 PTS
Greig: 22; 28 GP, 2 G, 8 PTS
Lapierre: 22; 24 GP, 0 G, 6 PTS
Bourque: 22; 26 GP, 2 G, 6 PTS
2021 NHL Draft
McTavish: 21; 24 GP, 3 G, 12 PTS
Some highly touted guys that were drafted as centers that are having pretty dissapointing seasons.

Dach, Cozens, Mercer and Bourque all highly peak my interest if the trade made sense; I don’t really want to see the Flames part with any of their future young core or their picks.
CC has already had a fantastic start to his tenure, let the man cook and see what he comes up with! Super excited to see TDL again, I feel like guys like Coleman, Kadri and Andersson could all garner some interest from multiple teams.
Hopefully Kuzmenko can string together a decent January ahead of the 4 nations break to make that Lindy trade evvvvven better!

Lapierre is interesting, in that he has a top six skillet, but the coach is playing 2 rookies in the top six ahead of him. It's one of those "if you can't hack it on the fourth line, you're not moving up" situations.
If they slot him wrong and it goes sour, that would be a very interesting center for calgary.

Just keep our own youngsters and picks, imo.

I haven’t paid close attention to his development or where he’s at as a player but I remember him being an intriguing prospect going into his draft. He was a surefire top 10 or even top 5 pick going into his draft year but his injury and concerns afterwards of losing a full year of development made him drop way down in the draft.

I have to wonder how much Andersson's value has diminished in the last 15-20 games. I doubt we'll get any team's top young players- perhaps a B prospect. Another 1st would be nice.
A team like Buffalo or Detroit might make good trade partners, as they can afford to give up something good with the depth they have in their respective prospect bases.

I hope his value hasn’t dropped, just because his play may have a bit lately, him and Weegar are keeping us in games.

I don’t think player value shifts much in 15-20 stretches either positively or negatively

The whole "The Predators are in such bad shape" narrative is very overstated. The signings of Stamkos, Marchessault, and Skjei haven't worked (so far) but really they gave up nothing but cap space to sign those guys anyways.
They will have a top 5 pick this year most likely which is what they needed most and still have other draft capital and prospects.

No, but if it continues, and it turns out he's having a bad season instead of a bad 15 game stretch...
