LOL. do you guys hate the Oilers or not? Markstrom was hot garbage. Maybe if we played the Ducks and he put up that performance, but he got outplayed by Mike Smith! Who let in a goal from 180 feet.....
and Trevor Kidd vs the Sharks was worse than Elliot also.

Which Markstrom did the Devils get?
I don’t pay enough attention to that team but the current stats aren’t flattering
7 games played
3 wins 3 losses 1 OTL
Sv .891
GAA 3.15
Game against Detroit yesterday - 4 goals on 19 shots
Is NJ a wreck defensively or Markstrom not playing very well?
Bit of both?

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
They'd been without Hughes & Pesce who will need to get up to speed. Otherwise, this is Markstrom. On/Off.

I don't think you can draw any conclusions in October. Lots of players and teams off to slow starts and we know Markstrom is a guy that can play poorly at times and his worth is ultimately shown over a full season of play.

In the "good year bad year" cycle of Markstroms play we would be in the "bad year" part of that cycle

Markstrom.
Why waste money on goalies when you can get Vladar and Wolf? Adin Hill won the Cup. Stuart Skinner was one goal away. Just a total waste of money.
But great, thanks for the 1st round pick NJ!

Exactly, new team/system and not even a month in. Look at Kippers October stats...

Bobo stood on his head, and the Panthers don't win without him. Vasilevskiy used to be awesome.
I agree though there's no single formula for success, especially with the cap in place.

Markstrom is a part time good player
Overrated big time based on a couple good seasons
Mentally weak, take a long time to get out of his slumps… like a season or two lol

Jersey should make the playoffs. If they do, they'll be hoping for Markstrom v Dallas not the other playoff version.

He also stood on his head when they lost against Las Vegas. It’s pretty easy to pick a bunch of the top 20 scorers and near impossible to pick the top 5 goalies. So why spend money on it?
Sorokin broke the bank and didn’t even get played when it mattered. Hilarious to me.

Well dgibbs was half right, Markstrom probably wasn't going to be their savior in net.
But the Devils were going to pay the price the Flames were looking for to get him (a 1st +)
In this case a 1st and solid young roster player in Bahl.

Markstom is inconsistent...what an absolute win for the Flames though. Sign him as a UFA, get a Vezina season out of him, trade him for a first and Bahl.

Markstrom was a solid goalie, but he definitely wasn't as elite as some made him out to be.
Some of the local media would sometimes group him with the top guys in the league which was silly imo.
We got great value for him with the 1st + Bahl.
Mercer was always a pipe dream, and was probably fueled by this idea that he was one of those "top guys".
I don't think he was any better then Elliot or Talbot for us

I was hoping that it was a case of if we said it enough we could speak it into existence lol.
Small sample but Bahl could prove to be just as valuable at a different position.
