Good news, great for Pelletier to have more time and to keep Cooley. Strange to see Vegas claim Schwindt, guy hasn't produced in the A at all and got beat out by Rooney on a bottom feeder, hard to see him sticking all year, bet he will be back.

LOL, for sure the GM would talk with the head coach when they look at roster moves

I guess that's how it maybe lines up now? Definitely doesn't look like an overwhelming bunch.
Morton will be interesting to watch though. Some heavy lifting lined up for him this year.
|
Morton is the only clear centerman in that group.
Last season playoffs, Schwindt centered Coronato and Pelletier
Riley Damiani centered Sutter and Bishop
They also lost Ben Jones who centers Klapka and Stromgren.
Those were the 4 centers to finish the season
Maybe Lipinski, if he signs and sticks?

No. Recall waivers haven't been a thing for a long time.

Vegas wouldn't know if either player would be claimed by someone ahead of them so they might not have expected to get both
I think there is a fair chance Cole is back with the Flames before too long

I am so happy neither Pelletier nor Cooley got claimed. I still think Pelletier will be a good 3rd liner, he just needs to find his game again.
And I think Cooley has potential with actual goaltending coaches. He had no goalie coach until he was 18 and spent last year fixing his butterfly positioning that should help him quite a bit. People should not be surprised if he gets NHL games this year and plays good

Good stuff. Pelts cleared. Cooley cleared so there'll be fan faves stacked on the Wranglers roster.
Losing Schwindt barely cajoled a response out of me other than: Lost another center but meh, he wasn't anything amazing.

I was really surprised they put Pelletier on waivers but overall I am really happy they didn’t lose him.
It’s on you now Jakob to figure it out. If you want to be in the NHL, earn it and the opportunity will be given.

Could this just be some cap shenanigans from Vegas? They are just barely over the cap and have 2 waiver-exempt forwards. Schwindt and Lavoie combined make less than Brisson and Holtz, who can be sent down.
They could send those players down and put Schwindt and Lavoie on the opening roster to be compliant, then throw someone on LTIR (it's Vegas, I'm sure they have at least one player who needs to go on LTIR) and waive Schwindt and Lavoie tomorrow and recall the other kids once they clear/get reclaimed.

Well sure but the direction from Conroy is sure screaming rebuild. The coaches will just have to plug and play with who the Flames have available.

Kirkland is a decent substitute until a name-brand centerman can be found.

Someone could be injured and they want cheap depth. They don't have much in the way of prospects.

For all the complaining....no one had lose Schwindt on their bingo card save Reggie.
The fact that Vegas is adding a guy like Schwindt who's in that replacement level range bodes well for the 2026 first I hope. They've blown their load, hopefully the the roster ages and starts to falter and they're playing guys like this regularly next season en route to a bottom 3 finish!

Ilya Nikolaev is barely an AHL forward.

Reality check for Pelts value...for CP as much as the player
the "asset" isn't worth anything currently. There are more desirable players of waivers.
