They just signed him in July after his "off" year, and I doubt he mailed in the pro camp. Maybe a tweak of something that had him out of the preseason mix and now going back to junior to heal.

Yeah I agree. I think sometimes people forget that the tournament is a group thrown together after one on ice skating session before jumping into a game.

Looks like Parekh got sent down. Don’t think he’s physically ready. This was an intro to him so he could see where the bar needs to be set. Seems like a competitive guy. Betting he shows up next year ready to make the squad. Needs some more muscle and a different mindset. He’s super young. That will come.

The tools he does have are harder to gather.

The last cuts are going to be pretty tough.

Not sure how guys like Klapka and Honzek can get bumped by guys like Duehr and Pelletier. Coronato doesn’t look to have an obvious opening.

On D there are a lot of young guys like Grishnikov, Solovyov, Kuznetsov and even Brzustewisz that have shown they are probably ready.

Cooley and Ignatjew pushing Vladar and Wolf. With not a lot of differential.

Really brings into question the Mantha and Bean signings and the potential signing of Barrie. You want your young guys to develop and take a step but you don’t really leave them anywhere to do it.

If you are basing it purely on training camp performance and every spot is truly open I think their should be a number of nervious vets. Guess we’ll find out if those words were true or not.

The rest I would leave open to the best players. There are a number of young guys that I think earned a spot in training camp.

Nothing wrong with having young’s guys who look ready to take the next steps summer in the minors for a little bit. Injuries happen and if the team is under performing, there’s a legit fear of someone taking a job from the vets. AHL seasoning doesn’t hurt guys like Brus and Honzek.

That's the thing - it isn't based just on that. Fans like to look at it that way (because fans favour prospects over vets), but the vets have already shown that they are NHL players. Just because a kid looks good in the pre-season, when the pace is about 80% of the regular season pace, does not mean that the vets (who have proven they can handle the 100% pace) should feel nervous.

There is nothing wrong with young guys going to the A, to continue to work on their games. And more importantly, the Day 1 roster is not the roster in perpetuity - there will be changes, there will be injuries, there will be trades.

Up front, you forgot Mantha, but could remove Rooney. I agree there are 10 places spoken for and 3 spots up for grabs. I would make it Coronato, Klapka and Pelletier (only due to asset management, not because he earned it).

On D, Miromanov, Bahl & Bean are all guaranteed a place, leaving 2/3 spots open.
I would keep Paschal, Solo and Barrie - carrying 8 D in the event we unload Anderson this season.

As much as I love young guys pushing, there's absolutely no problems with guys like Bruz, Honzek and Ignatjew getting Wrangler time. They need North American pro experience, and without completely blowing the Flames out of the water they seem like obvious picks (even with good camps).

I didn’t forget Mantha. He’s one of the signings I don’t agree with.

Albeit I’ve only watched him for 2 games. But he looks like a floater.
