I put out my own memorial.
Makes me a feel a little closer to Calgary, I know exactly how you're feeling about wanting to visit the dome right now.

The video within is the best I've seen so far, probably. Flames always do it right.

Even your dog is sad. Not trying to be funny. They can absolutely feel it when we are hurting.

Seeing the latest pic of the tribute at the Dome gave me an idea. I'm going to grab some sidewalk chalk and draw a large #13 on my driveway. I took the RV away for the winter this afternoon so I have plenty of space to do so and for people to see it.
I have to admit, I'm surprised at the lack of Flames jerseys or shirts around town down here in Lethbridge. I wore my Gaudreau t-shirt on back to back days... It might be smelly by Monday.
My son and his best friend are going to Calgary tomorrow, a trip they already planned, and my son has informed his friend that their first stop is the Dome.

That’s not correct under the SPC but I’m not going to get into it more than that now.

Not sure if mentioned before but I just remembered that the Latvian goaltender, Kivinieks, died two years ago. Pretty awful what that team and people around it have had to gone through. Deaths are super rare in sports and to go through that twice, cruel.

Point taken and I deleted the video. In hindsight it was in poor taste

Im down at a lake in Southern BC......just had dinner and a couple cocktails with a bunch of people, mostly either formerly or presently still employed in hockey.
Ive been wanting to say something since first reported and it struck me earlier tonight talking with everyone about it and it explains why i havent said anything.....there really are no words.
I just cannot express the emotions to the degree i want, but also know anyone grieving also understands it.
So long story short....the hockey world has been rocked by this unimaginable tragedy and that goes from the upper echelon of the NHL to casual fans of the game and everyone in between.
Nightmare stuff.

I'm not going to link the article, unfortunately the story gets more tragic. The driver also has two young girls.
Two more kids that will likely not have their dad in their life because of one horrific decision.

Two wrong don't make a right. I hope the guy isn't jailed for life. It's life altering for the Gaudreau's, but honestly, if we believe alcoholism is a disease, we should believe in some sort of rehabilitation possible for those suffering from it. The guy made a terrible decision that ended with terrible consequences. Odds are he realizes this has impacted dozens including his own family. It's terrible for himself included.

Wow does sidewalk chalk ever deplete fast!
Started his name with red and the one and only stick barely lasted.
We had lots of pink so decided to finish the number with pink.

Well, here's the thing. It sort of is, and it's definitely an issue for those who can't touch a drop.
But for many others, like I suspect it is for the accused, it's a choice.
Moreover, it's one thing to suffer from a disease of alcoholism and not be able to control when and how much you drink. It's an entirely different discussion about choosing to get behind a wheel after drinking.
To me, the latter has no excuse ever. Period. That man made a choice, and he's still alive to deal with that choice, and so he should for the rest of his days. The Gaudreau brothers are gone forever, through no fault of their own.
This is a false equivalency.

Worse yet, by his own admission, this joker chose to get behind a wheel and continue drinking!
There's a reason why the laws concerning vehicular homicide do not allow drunkenness as an excuse.

Honestly it's been 48 hours now since I had heard the rumours were true and I still can't believe it and it still doesn't feel real.
Johnny and Matty should be at home with their wife and young kids / pregnant wife right now.

Maybe the killer's kids are safer without him around. The actions he took that night could have easily ended up in his own death and those of any passengers if the circumstances were a little different. For example, if instead of the lead car moving over to give cyclist more room, it was to give more room to pulled over vehicle.
Forget that clown. I hope he, and put who commit similar crimes, get the maximum sentences possible.
