Lifting phrases like “right to life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” directly from the US, and multiple references to god and the creator make me nauseous

While it wouldn’t shock me if UCP did something like that, the website linked and quoted is not a reliable source. It appears to be a fringe pro life religious news site.

Absolutely, multiple grains of salt here. It wouldn’t surprise me if they announce this at the electronic free town hall they’re hosting.

We have a fringe, pro-life, religious movement pulling the UCP puppet strings. This where they get ideas from.

Pro-life has always been a spin misnomer. These people do not want social services provided and do not care if a person lives or dies after they are born. More accurate would be forced birthers.

Has anyone talked about how most people who voted UCP was simply because they think (probably correctly) their taxes would be lower? I’m curious what the response is to that? Which is the vast majority of the reason people I know voted for ucp.
All this back and forth about how ####ty they are but every ucp vioter I know is purely on money.
"Has anyone talked about how most people who voted UCP was simply because they're morons?"
Dude, we talk about that all the time.

Hey. Morons voting for morons is part of democracy itself. You don't really have choice if you are not allowed to make bad choices. That's the freedom.

That butt ugly mansion you see on Hwy 22 heading toward 16ave?
Yeah Smith actually bought that recently, calling it the new UCP headquarters so it's all a government expense and tax payer funded.
The golden lion/horse (I don't remember what they actually were) statues are being replaced by golden oil & gas pump jacks instead. Even the water in the water fountain is being replaced by Berta crude oil.

They can flood the Springbank reservoir permanently and have a waterfront HQ.
You know what makes things better? Ignorance. Best to keep kids in the dark about their bodies, lest them touch themselves and the Devil comes out.

The Alberta government says it's moving ahead this fall with legislation that would require parents to proactively sign up to have their children opt-in, rather than the usual practice of opting out, for sex education.
It's a move that has teachers wondering what problem the province is looking to solve.

"We intend to propose legislation this fall and will continue to consult with stakeholders throughout the implementation of these policies," Nicolaides said.
It's not clear what the legislation might look like, but Premier Danielle Smith said in February it would involve parents opting-in their children to each formal lesson on sexual health.

Preliminary data from the province says cases of gonorrhea ticked up to 1,334 in the first quarter of 2024 from 1,247 in the same period of 2022. Chlamydia also went up to 4,234 cases from 4,030.
Treating STD's, always good for keeping healthcare costs down...though I guess they could switch to using natural cures?
You've got it backwards. They're not trying to keep healthcare costs down. Increased health care costs = profits for cronies in the wake of AHS getting picked apart.
