But it would have absolutely sucked to have them winning the Cup shoved down my throat for 4 days. And I'm sure it would have been brought up at the concerts by multiple bands to suck up to the crowd.
Haha me too, although Metallica are legit Sharks fans so maybe they wouldnt pull the Snoop Dog

Beautiful day today all.

10 mil in cap space to add 9 roster players. Even if they buyout Campbell and that turns into 13 mil to add 10 players, they will have very little cap room and half their depth players who actually carried them at spots this playoffs are going to walk.

No picks this year plus they've already even traded away 3/5 top picks in the 2025 draft and their prospect cupboard is almost completely empty.

Definitely feel like they will still be decent but that they took their biggest shot this year and missed

I just hope Draisaitl either walks or gets fair value on his contract. Surely someone like San Jose is going to give him the full 17.6 mil x 7 on the open market if he waits and I really hope the union makes sure that he doesn't take some kind of stupid discount in the afterglow of their cup finals flop.

I don't even mind if he re-signs there, he's turning 29 in a couple months and is headed into the back 9 of his career with a lot of city miles on him playing more than 20 minutes a night, guy isn't going to be able to walk when he's 45, locking him up for 15 million a season x 8 taking him to 37 years old locks them in cap hell for a loong time.

Man I'm so glad I can enjoy the busy draft and free agency week without people slobbering all over the mighty oilers and their amazing cup win that ended the CDN franchise 31 year championship drought.

Thanks you so much Panthers

What a relief! Much like some others, I am up north and couldn't fathom having to deal with an Oilers win. So, thank you Panthers.

My son is 9 and luckily I had worked hard to avoid him falling into being an Oiler fan. A legit fear due to location and his peer group. But, he hates them as much as I do. We watched more hockey together during this run then we ever have and when the game ended he said to me "Dad, I've never been happier watching a sport. Now I don't have to deal with the idiots at school tomorrow." I'm just so proud.

Oh, believe me, they were just as ridiculous back then. Always been an entitled and annoying fan base!!

Oh it's much better than that!

2022: one pick in the top 150 (32)
2023: one pick in the top 150 (56)
2024: one pick in the top 150 (63)
2025: two picks in the top 150 (so far, but expect that to go down as they go all in again next year)

That will be 3 to 5 picks in the top 150 in four years.

The Flames have 8 of them this year!

Totally. For unavoidable reasons, I had to be in Deadmonton 2 weekends ago when they were down 3-0 in the series. While you could feel the dejection, I think they were more at peace with it, and just content to be there after surprisingly getting past Dallas.

But to come all the way back, basically dominating games 4-6, got everybody's hopes up, only to see them crushed at the very end... that was perfect. Even though it got us Flames fans closer to an ulcer with the way it played out, it maximized Oiler heartbreak, which is the obvious desired result.

Anyone bring up Knoblauch's "go ask the Buffalo Bills about playoff experience" comment?

He should ask them about coping with loss.
