My wife laughed at me calling me crazy as I wouldn't watch a single second of the game. I told her I can't stand the stress, and every time I tune in, the Oilers score.

McDavid’s presser was a beautiful piece of performance art, especially the end when asked if he’d like to have scored (TSN has the full interview; that “raw” version above is cut off). Years from now if I ever need to find my bliss, I know where to click.
I've tried to express to my wife what it means to be Canadian, and I said over and over again it's simple...community. We take care of each other and support each other. It's different from the individualist mindset of an American.
Never has there been a more obvious example of what that sense of community looks like. I'm an expat Calgarian/Canadian who's team won a cup that helps Flames fans. In appreciation for that, several of you decide to support kids and poor working families here in South Florida just for the sake of comradery. That's just ####ing amazing.
It's just another example I can use to support the overarching theory I've been telling her for a while now: "Everything is better in Canada."
I'm just glad that "superfan" was finally rewarded for his diligence.
This is a clip from local news last year as the Panthers were about to be eliminated.
"Don't take it for granted" he says. Preach brotha. It's a big win and I'm glad you finally get what you deserve for your fandom.
Seriously, I've been going to the Panthers games for a decade, and he's always there in his cape, even when there were less than 5000 people in the arena. He's a ####ing icon. I hope he's super happy and drunk tonight.

It was the most annoying s*** in the world being inundated by that PROPAGANDA for the last two weeks. 1984-level brainwashing.
Don't forget the bars promoting themselves as "Oilers Central" in this city.
Said in another thread but if Tkachuk, 2 years removed from here, cn shoutout to Calgary and Flames fans in his biggest moment, knowing how big it is for us to see the Oilers lose, maybe more fans in this city should rethink their lazy and irresponsible switching of allegiances.

Such a relief that we can all just enjoy the draft without having to listen to everyone who comes to the podium congratulate the Oilers on their Stanley Cup victory.
Thank you Jobu!!!!

There was talk among Oilers supporters that if the Oilers completed coming back from 0-3 to win it, that they would make a movie about it. Could you freaking imagine how much that would suck as a Flames fan.

This was exactly me. Didn't watch. Took the dog for a LONG walk. Got a text near the end from her saying "it's OK..you can come back now". LOL
The timeline has fixed itself, mercifully.
(Even watching a replay tonight I turned it on and the Greasers scored...)

I didn't watch any of the 3 previous games that the Oilers won. This time I decided to break the routine and watch to see if I could change the mojo. Florida scored and I started to feel less stressed, so I got up to do something, came back and it was 1-1. After that, I made sure I didn't take my eyes off. It was stressful, but I had to make myself suffer to appease the hockey gods.
I know the whole idea of mojo or superstition is insane, but I can't help myself.

I wrote a long rap verse after game 3 about the Oilers losing cause I was certain the Panthers were gonna complete the sweep. Then obviously the Oil pushed it to 7 and I thought I'd never be able to record it. Now that the Panthers officially won I'm gonna tweak the lyrics and record it
