I've got Grushnikov making the team out of camp as well. So make room.

I get tired of some of the responses here too. We're just tired of different things.

10th overall was never happening, last year this time we would have been happy for Bahl and $4m in cap space alone let alone an added 1st.

Not sure what is better pick #11 next draft, or Jersey finishing in the bottom 10 and we get a lottery ball in 2026.

If I'm a Jersey fan, I am happy with this deal. Got the goalie we need, and didn't give up anything that makes me nauseous.
As a Flames fan, I think we got good value, and (just as importantly), this sets the Flames up to be a bottom 10 team this year.
Seems like a good trade for both sides IMO.

I doubt the 2026 pick is top 10.
But likely doesn't matter, NJ's pick won't be top 10 next year either.

If he starts to fall apart, the 2026 season could be ugly.

I think the last quote of Secs post implies it's a scout from a different organization

We got a 1st round pick + a defenseman for Roman Turek.
Take the win.

Why are people suggesting we could get the 2026 pick instead of the 2025? Is there another condition that came out that isn't in the first post of this thread?

That would be shocking, quite frankly. He struggled a bit with the Wranglers, from what I read (not surprising as it was a a new team for him, and he played with many different players) and he didn't get into a single playoff game.
Maybe he'll surprise, but imo it's far more likely the Flames have him pencilled in to gain more experience in the AHL. If he surprises in camp, great, but there are likely to be more experienced guys who would need waivers ahead of him in the pecking order.

If we don't get the 2025 pick we get 2026 unprotected.

If the NJ pick is in the top 10 next year the Flames will get the NJD unprotected 2026 first.

Not sure if it's been shared yet but unsurprisingly, the Athletic thinks the flames got scammed. Won't share the commentary but here are the grades:
Devils grade: A
Flames grade: D-plus
Devils grade: A
Flames grade: C-minus
Devils grade: A
Flames grade: B-minus
