This is based purely on speculation. if eight teams are realistically a target for trade and six have already told you we have zero interest where is this sudden new bidder going to come from? And if the two bids are undervalued what are your options?

I think people undervalue how much an unprotected first could end up being worth?

Markstrom is addition by subtraction for this rebuild imo.

NHL trade valuations are weird too because there is no consistency to it.

What would Lundell be worth in a trade today?

Is it more than a 1st and a 2nd? I'm actually not sure it is.

Some wild overreactions here. Some posters saying we shouldn't have made the trade, and kept Hanifin... why, for spite?

Seriously, can someone post a deadline deal for a comparable defensemen that came with a better return?

This was the best deal Conroy was going to get. Had he waited til the deadline Vegas may have shifted their focus to another player. Florida and Tampa don't have first rounders. If a first rounder was the goal it seems to be Vegas or bust.

I would have loved to have Vegas send more, but these pie in the sky deals everyone was hoping for were out to lunch. If the shoe was on the other foot would you want to move our top prospect AND a first rounder like some were expecting?

Honestly if Noah’s agent was truly interfering and reducing trade values then I’m glad Conroy took the best deal he could get that isn’t a preferred destination. I know Eichel is his buddy and all but Noah wanted east coast. Maybe the next agent will work with Conroy instead of interfere. These are ongoing relationships.

It seems like a rental return for a decent but not all star defence man. I didn’t understand the Lundell speculation. Playoff teams rarely subtract from their rosters at the deadline. I would have been happy to be surprised. A first round pick, a third or second that is equivalent to a n prospect, and another player. Seems in line with Bingo’s expectations earlier, in my view.

25 picks in the next 3 drafts is good
Is the pick to Montreal next year not protected?

I can be definitive because Hanifin is head and shoulders the best D man that was on the market. After the earlier moves where exactly was Vegas going to find a D man remotely as good? Florida and TB were definitely in play and interested. I think this is clearly a newbie GM situation where he got took by an agent and an opposing GM. The return is not disastrous but there was time and he should have used it. Again, he will learn

This. Put up or shut up. Not rumours, executed trades. Hronek and DeBrincat were posted and this deal is right in line with those. Whatcha got?

Even an extended Hanifin wasn’t getting Lundell. Lindholm who is pretty comparable went to the Bruins for a 1st, two 2nds, and filler. Market is the market.
That’s why I’m 100% on board for a Markstrom trade involving a 1st and Holtz. It’s a great trade for a goalie.

It's almost impossible to read, but I think they essentially get the worse of Calgary and Florida's picks for all intents.

I guess at the end of the day, if we're gonna win this trade, we gotta nail these picks

Will look decent for the Flames if we've got a good player on the roster and Hanifin is signed for 7 years in Tampa

He is saying he would have preferred that Conroy got a 1st and a 7th rather than a 1st, a 3rd/2nd and a player. Totally rational position.

It will be Florida’s barring the Flames trying to be competitive or Florida blowing up. Flames need to be a bottom the team next year.

If this was the market, package Marky and Hanifin and get a couple sexy pieces from the Devils.

Yes but if Vegas went after Guentzel then that would mean they may not have been in on Hanifin at deadline so you don't really know if trade would have been there and assuming Conroy wants whats best for the team I'm sure he looked at other offers and assumed wasn't worth the risk.
