The Flames control much of the market on D and have the best goalie available. I don’t think the leaks ever come from Calgary but more so from the agents and other teams.
I do recall what Sureloss posted about Friedman saying he was trying to not talk so much about the Flames.

I say we tell him that we'll keep signing him to one-year deals for $4M, trade him at the deadline wherever he wants, then do it again next year, for as long as he wants

Huska is not encouraging players to give away pucks up the middle or to play soft, not finish checks or do flybys of the net instead of going to the crease.

I see players trying, they just don't know what the hell the coach wants. Through the first half of the year Huska was using the same system as Sutter did, gets puck deep, cycle everything to the point, nobody is big enough to stay in front of the net. It didn't work for Sutter because the roster isn't built for that, we don't have big guys that can stand there and screen the goalie, we have smaller skilled players. It was idiotic to to go back to that well yet Huska did until I think players just tuned him out once Zary and Pospisil came up. Now I see a bunch of guys just doing their own thing out there, no system at all. Like I said, it's fine while young guys develop their craft but you are going to need a guy who actually knows what the hell they are doing once the team is ready to compete. The other thing about Huska is he is soft as warm butter, he doesn't get mad at the officials, he doesn't get mad at the players, he just takes it all. I think he imposed the same system as Sutter while being the nice guy and the players like him but it has become the inmates running the asylum now.

I’d love to see Connie pull off creative moves like this.
Retain on Marky, get a good return.
Trade Tanev, re-sign him in the Summer.
Trade Hanifin with an extension to get best value.
It’d be rad to see him nail stuff like that.

Tanev feels like the really rare case where normally when a teams fans overrate a player, they expect good returns, yet I think in this case the fans have it right and the NHL is massively undervaluing him. Can’t negotiate a contract extension, offering only a 2nd…
Like people watch him, right? Dude is a stud. Crazy underrating going on here.
