Really want to say thanks to everyone who supported us from the very beginning when we opened up over a year ago.

Things just did not pan out the way we would have hoped or expected to, so yes I can confirm since it's been widely speculated now for some time that my wife and I are no longer the franchisees for the Calgary location.

Consumer electronics retailer The Source is getting a new name – again.

BCE Inc.’s Bell Canada BCE-T and Best Buy Canada Ltd. have struck a partnership that will rebrand 165 The Source stores – once known as RadioShack – as Best Buy Express.

Bell and Best Buy will invest in updating the stores and expanding their product selection, customer service and employee training, the two companies said in a joint statement Thursday. There were nearly 300 The Source stores at last report; the stores not included in the partnership will close in 2024, a Bell spokesperson said.

Good news. Now when someone says you can get it at 'Source', you'll only have to guess if they mean the skate board shop, or the adult entertainment shop.

They can't legally use the name.

From Wikipedia (InterTAN was the company that operated RadioShack stores in Canada)...

Plus, Radio Shack carried a lot of hobbyist type things such as circuits, switches and various electrical connectors. Also, unique eletronics (ie things like a disco ball, traffic light lamp etc) that you'd now jump to Amazon for. As a kid, the coolest was the selection of RC cars they had.

Now, just over priced electronics you can get everywhere else and only hope of shopping there is finding something on clearance and or a price error.

I saw on Reddit that Spicy Hut on Edmonton Trail is closing next Sunday which is a real shame. That place is really good and I expect it will probably be busy this last.

Yeah, I doubt it will be anything close to the same although maybe the new owners will be a good replacement for the closed Szechuan Restaurant that was on 16th Ave.

HMV is re-opening...

Inside Toys R Us. Now adults can go buy vinyl and other junk at Toys R Us. Makes sense that they are doing that since they also own Sunrise Records and can share the inventory. I definitely saw this construction happening at the MacLeod Trail TRU

They already turned 1/4 of it into a children's bookstore so they essentially have a Coles inside. Might as well add a 1 hour photo finishing for the 90s throwback.
