It's certainly not a Flames homer take...nearly all the SN talking heads think the Pacific is the best division in hockey. There are bad teams everywhere in this league having a couple in your division doesn't mean a damn thing. Vancouver will be mid pack.

They also think the Oilers are going to win the cup.

fair but it's certainly not the "worst division in hockey"
I mean he is mentioning 100+ point teams from last season to support his argument

Context indeed. Huberdeau's goal was a stroke of luck and one of his secondary assists had nothing to do with him at all. He's been near invisible again so far despite seeing huge OZ starts to the tune of 70+% and loads of PP time. His mark on the franchise is giving up prime shooting opportunities and needless giveaways.
How much time does one need to stop playing passive, unassertive hockey in a new market? 100 games?

200 at least. Maybe wait out the whole contract before we can truly make any judgments.

If you'd like. Lucky goals and lucky points are fine if you are creating offense and doing your job - being a difference maker. Impact wingers that stand out in and around the Huberdeau AAV:
Marner
Tkachuk
Stone
Kucherov
Kaprizov
Ovechkin
What's the chance you watch more than 1-2 games in a row where you don't see any of the above making at least a couple of notable plays, regardless of whether they are goals and assists? Huberdeau isn't even making wow plays that don't result in goals or chances and this goes back 85 games, not just his current extension.

All those same wingers have had pucks bounce off their ass and go in, shots off skates go in.
We need to take those away immediately.
I love how every discounts the assists from Huberdeau on the Lindholm goal.
That play was a shot on net last year, if he doesn't make a bank pass none of that happens.
But we will keep crying he doesn't have 20 points already.

His boss has to take some of the blame for giving him the marching orders to keep the team competitive after its two best players walked.

How many of those guys have scored 115 points in a season? He got the contract because of that. Also did you see the game last night? Ovechkin was terrible.
And what do you guys plan to do about it anyway? Complain for 8 years

I dunno - I see Huberdeau making phenomenal "wow" passes a lot, this year and last. Passes which don't get converted much.

Ovechkin is 38 years old. THIRTY EIGHT. Let's see how good Huberdeau does in his 38 year old season. I am hoping and praying he has half of the production Ovechkin has had from 30-38.
As for your comment about 'what do you guys plan on doing about it anyway'? Like.. WTF??? I guess anyone in the future who has any negative thing to say about the Calgary Flames in any way, including their players, must PM you with a rough draft for your approval? LoL
It is hilarious how you knocked Gaudreau in some posts in this thread. I would trade Huberdeau for Gaudreau in a heartbeat, as at least Gaudreau has shown himself to be a complete game-breaker in his time in Calgary on multiple occasions - way too many to even remember. I haven't seen Huberdeau take over a game once since he arrived. That's the issue that people have. You can defend him all you like, but you aren't going to get anywhere with your 'what are you guys going to do about it' nonsense.

Leads the team in scoring chances
Leads the team in HD scoring chances
Leads the team in shots
Thrown a couple massive hits
Positive chances vs chances against numbers
PPG
Seems to be headed in the right direction??
What's the point of hating on him because he sucked last season? Pat is correct, confirmation bias. The contract is already done no point in crying about it....I would rather have an 8M player for 10.5M than a 3M player for 10.5.
Gaudreau and Tkachuk chose to leave! If you want to blame someone blame them dont just hate on Huberdeau for signing a contract.
