Maybe you should stick to "football", Trent. It's a slow, patient and beautiful game. Don't need streaks to show you where the ball went...no need for anything to be fast, and movement into the centre...well....that's what first class strikers are for.
The PP is 3-for-11; that's 27% for you...and you are bitching. Keep that rate and they're top 5 or 6 (based on 22-23 stats) for the year. And this year so far they're 8th. Yup. Terrible indeed.
That is where green text is warranted. Not on the PP. At least not yet.
I'll add one other thing: I spent several decades in management, developing people into competent "whatevers". It doesn't happen overnight. It takes time and ...yes....patience.

We probably won't know what this team is until the 20 to 25 game mark. They played well enough to win. Two posts in the shootout was the difference.
I don't see this team being as boring as last year. But time will tell.
I don't think Huby is comfortable playing in a hockey market with a big contract attached. When he was in Florida he was an electric player.

This team is just boring. There's not a single player on the team who would get people out of their seats. Its like a team full of journeymen players.
Really missing Johnny and Tkachuk still, and its evident we don't have anyone close to their levels.

Absolutely. There's not a single thing that guarantees success.
I would argue that not doing certain things almost guarantees a lack of any sort of stability/success.

this is where I think the team is going to get dinged. They have a home market that is frustrated by a lack of success, and a roster that isn't marketable due to a lack of star power. Home opener had poor attendance (and discounted ticket prices), and as much as we point to economic problems - the Flames have one of the cheapest ticket values in the entire league. I believe not rebuilding is going to hurt this teams financials...and hopefully that helps dictate what happens next.
The Flames tried to market Conroy/Huska/Iginla as the big hope for this season, and it doesn't seem to have worked much (if we are to look at opening night attendance as an indicator). It's boring, untalented hockey and they're coming off one of the worst seasons from an on-ice entertainment value in recent history. It's a hard sell.

If you think last night’s game was boring your expectations are unrealistic. Sucks they lost, but that was extremely entertaining. All 3 games have been entertaining imo.

Compare the Flames games to the talent on display in other games around the league this year. It's not close.

Waiting for someone to start an ironic Freakin' Nazem Kadri thread.
GP 3 G 0 A 0 P 0 +/- -4 GAF meter = 0
33 years old, 6 more years at 7m/per season. Not sure what Treliving or anyone here saw in him.

These are professionals that are playing a system very similar to last year. Aside from the PP and PK, there have not been very many significant changes that should cause pro players to struggle greatly.
Yes, it takes time for everyone to round into form. But to suggest that nearly a third of the season should elapse before we know what we have here or pass judgement is silly. Its already obvious this team is going to struggle greatly to score goals again and even so, they will be right where they always are in the 6-10 range.
Huberdeau is just never going to be a 10M dollar player and that is almost as scary as the Kadri never living up to his cap hit at the same time. If these two factors changed, maybe we have a 3-5 seed, but I don't see either suddenly figuring it out or suddenly switching back to elite producers.
Don't trade with Florida and don't sign old players to long term deals. Please learn Flames. Please.

If we look back at Treliving’s final 12 months on the job, it makes one hell of an argument for never allowing a GM to enter the final year of his contract without an extension (or being let go). He left this team in a mighty mess, and the damage was all done in his final 12 months.

The amount of times he’s ripped shots wide already is maddening; probs my least favourite contract on the team atm which is super frustrating. I wish Tre just kept Monahan and utilized LTIR which he seems to have no problem doing in Toronto. I actually think if we were patient with Monahan it could have worked out for both the player and the team rather than giving up a 1st to sign Kadri to his retirement contract.

Well, at least they got a point. Another blown lead. Sigh, ah well. Thought they played better than in Pittsburgh. Markstrom looks dialed in. Would be good to have the "star" players show up, but that's probably asking too much. I guess they are what they are...
3 pts in 3 games. Well on our way to a 9th place finish!

This might just be a situational thing.
It’s easier to be entertained from a pure hockey perspective when you have zero investment in the outcome. When you are invested, it’s usually at least partially attached to the performance of one team.
I haven’t found the games notably out of sync with any others as far as entertainment value.

Tanguay was frustrating with his lack of shooting, but at least when he did shoot he'd snipe them, bar down and in. Was great in the shootout. Huberdeau's shot sucks. Have yet to see him score a really nice goal that left me satisfied in knowing he has that skillset. As well, Tanguay had a lot more impact on the ice. He was good for at least a few super nice passes each game. Huberdeau is a decent passer, but honestly I have yet to see any kind of passing with regularity that left me awestruck. Haven't seen him take over a game by himself. Ignoring his point totals in FLA, he just seems like your typical 2nd liner winger. Not impressed with him....at all
Can't believe some of us, my self included, thought he was the perfect Gaudreau replacement. Really rooting for the guy, but it's not looking good.

For me all 3 games were entertaining.
But main problem is I don't see many promising area that the team can achieve something this season and may be in the future.
Not really scoring team, and can't rely on D to win games, and some inconsistent G.
