This was not implied or even intended to be implied. You’re deliberately reading it as negatively as possible.

I'm not super thrilled with the Liberals pushing to regulate more and more of the internet. It's not a great power for the government to have. This piece from Jen Gerson is pretty good on the topic.

It's interesting how one political side is always capable of reading through the tea leaves, to find damning dog whistles in the most innocuous of places. Yet when a duck declares his existence in a meager 3 paragraph statement, walks like a duck, talks like a duck, well someone is just being negative yo.
Also interesting how Marxism wasn't mentioned, yet someone got it.

That's not really how that sentence reads.
Every democracy is built on some aspects of socialism.

Unfortunately...because they dont care.
They feel as though Governing Canada is their Right rather than their Duty and they'll do whatever they want and that we should all be thankful that their transgressions havent been more egregious.

It'd be as bad as having someone guilty of elections law violations and still being under a Compliance Order being the critic on Election Integrity. And Opposition Leader.

In fairness, Pierre also has an ethics violation, so it is pretty common place.

Some major cracks in the Liberal Party, with a likely soon to be "ex" Liberal MP siding with the Conservatives on repealing all carbon taxes (the 2nd time he has done so recently).
https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/libe...axes-1.6588972
Good for Ken McDonald in working and standing up for his constituents of Avalon Newfoundland versus toing the partisan line that is detrimental. He's made the news recently as a backbencher for speaking out about issues hurting Newfoundlanders. Is he perhaps planning to cross the floor?

"I think we have to come up with some policies and some programs that help to ease the pain of what people are facing today," McDonald told CBC News.
"That's something that happens regularly. And I don't know if the best-before date is gone, yet, on the Liberal Party. But it's getting there if Canadians are not seeing a break real soon."

Will others follow suit? Atlantic Canada in particular where locations are more rural has been hit extremely hard by the carbon tax, and what were once Liberal strongholds are falling behind and losing ground on the CPC. It's clear that Trudeau rules over his party like an autocracy (see Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott) so this type of breaking ranks at a time when Liberals are closing in on Ignatieff levels of support may cause further rupture.

Repealing carbon taxes has to be most short sighted and frankly brain dead thing they could do.

Which means it'll happen if they come to power.
I also get a kick out of blaming Newfoundland's high prices on the carbon tax. Newfoundland has some of the lowest fuel taxes in the country while having higher prices than all of their neighbors. And they regulate their gas prices, which I would imagine discourages price competition between stations, ultimately increasing prices. But I guess it's easier to blame a $0.14/L tax for almost $2 gas prices.
It's also interesting how the Provincial government's temporary gas tax reduction there basically got swallowed up by energy companies. Right before they removed the tax in June 2022, they were paying about $2.25/L while Nova Scotia was paying $2.17 and Quebec was paying $2.22/L. Then Newfoundland cut 7 cents of taxes, so you'd expect their prices to come in line with Nova Scotia and under Quebec. Instead, they're currently paying $1.85/L while Nova Scotia and Quebec are paying $1.74 and $1.70 respectively. So despite cutting their gas taxes in half, they've gone from paying 2-3% more than Nova Scotia and Quebec to paying 7-8% more now.

Honest question: does Danielle Smith want Trudeau re-elected? Otherwise, what was the money spent on advertising in Ottawa meant to accomplish??

Damn, I do love the east coast mentality sometimes. All for one and one for all.
Something to be said for an elected MP to actually working for his constituents. I have heard lots about voting for the best candidate to represent the people. Seems as though they did it, unfortunately, in this case the MP is be working for the people, but the people’s interests aren’t represented by the governing party

Nah, its literally the first thing that should be done.
Terrible policy, terrible implementation.
If we want to reduce carbon emissions, we should be exporting more natural gas, building more nuclear & hydro capacity. Not creating a stupid tax that isn't doing any of those 3.
Shocking of course that a 'tax' would increase the cost of everything up and down the chain. But we get a rebate amirite?
