Good to see guys smiling since it sounds like it was something that was frowned on based on that Zad interview.

I was sort of meh on the Huska hiring but he definitely comes across as a thoughtful, capable guy while answering questions.

One thing is he seems excited to be at the rink and excited for the opportunity.

I think that can be contagious and then if the players are excited to be at the rink too it just helps to build that team chemistry.

I wish so much weight wasn’t put on the C. If you have a captain it’s an honour but also a job that can be filled by the next best option if that player gets traded.

It’s a big deal when you have a long-standing franchise icon be a captain for years like Bergeron.

But we don’t have that guy. So why make this such a big deal. Give it to the best guy for this coming year. If Backlund is it and gets traded, then put the C on someone else. It’s not like we are all going to gasp in horror that we traded our Captain.

Maybe not overlooked, but more fans believing that what they saw last year is closer to what he is than what he was in Colorado. Time will tell which version of Kadri he resembles more this season.

Disappointed to hear about Kylington. Funny to see everyone suddenly okay with talking about moving on from him now but when I mentioned the same thing in the offseason I was crucified for it.

I’m going to need to see references on this “everyone”.

Not sure how that math works if they want raises.

Thought they weren’t allowed to LTIR him. Thought they tried that last year.

Backlund had better not be expecting a raise at this point.

As for the others, if scuttlebutt is correct and Lindholm comes in at 9 and Hanifin around 7, it means replacing Tanev and Zadorov with cheaper options. Moving Vladar would also help.

The Flames were never going to bring back all six UFAs, and they were never going to get rid of all six. After that it's a matter of priorities and who is willing to sign.

They never tried it, because they never needed to go over the cap. There is no benefit to LTIR unless you need the money for a replacement player.

I’d agree with him. They paid his full salary and didn’t get any return on that.

I’d probably say thanks if it was me.

My guess is they will have room to resign 3 of the 6.

Gut feel is it will be Lindholm, Backlund and Zadorov. Lindholm will be the one UFA getting a big raise.

Hanifin will be too expensive. Tanev is pretty long in the tooth. Kylington has too much risk.

Bringing in the big Kadri, Huberdeau, Weegar contracts last year will handcuff Conroy.

I think you're right about them signing 3 of the 6, but my gut is a lot less sure about which ones.

He probably has said thanks to the people who paid him.

The contract comments from his agent make sense if he isnt ready to play yet, why sign another deal if this season and status is still in question

Thanks god Weegar mentioned more zone in the defensive end. Man on man was a disaster at times last year.

That’s all my point is. I know agents and still going to do their jobs. But a thank you was needed there. Not I need to leverage my client some more.

I’m not sure. But I had seen reports that he wasn’t a candidate because they hoped to get him back at some point. Doesn’t sound very promising now. And if teams can make players go away like Mike Smith, Matt Murray and others. Why can’t we get the cap relief now when we need it for once is beyond me.
