If I'm the Flames, I want everyone to think that a player who had been rumoured to not be re-signing may indeed re-sign, especially if you are trying to trade him.

Honestly, I wish the media would just leave these guys alone at this point. Everything that needs to be said has been said, and dwelling on it probably doesn't help either side.

I agree, but it's their job and folks are thirsty for hockey new this time of year. I know we've been following all summer, but lots of people are tuning in for the first time since spring.

The agent made it seem as if "Oliver needs to see how the environment is" before he re-signs. I am sure that part ruffled many feathers in the Flames.
The environment for Oliver was supportive, understanding, and private. All the while getting his full salary, a multi-million dollar one at that, while that support was being given.
It looks very ungrateful on the part of the agent and Oliver. The Flames deserved more respect than that in how they handled last year is my biggest point.

For sure. But then, that also looks identical to situations in which the player is actively working on a deal to stay with the team.

Looks ungrateful and damaging to the relationship in Calgary is what it does. Hope it pays off for them doing "agent" things. But the Flames deserved a little more respect than that.

I am sure you do not have the first god damn d clue about how anyone in the Flames organisation felt about the very benign statements made to the media by Kylington's agent. I suspect that no one thought anything of them.

It looks like that TO YOU, but you seem to be on an island with this narrative you are promoting.

You suspect .....
Yet, I am sure you do not have the first goddam clue about how anyone in the Flames organization felt about the very poor choice of words made to the media by Kylington's agent.

We will agree to disagree, but I will say this.
Once we see how this all plays out we can revisit it. First let's hope Oliver plays an actual game this year, or better than that, let's hope whatever he is dealing with at a human element is rectified.
But it is a business, and getting paid 2.5 million dollars to not play hockey is not what anyone wants. But from an organizational standpoint, the Flames did the right thing by supporting the human being.
The first thing out of that agent's mouth should not have been about leveraging the Flames. That is bad business and not "Agent stuff".

A leap of poor choice of words by an agent yes.
I hope Oliver is ok. That is what is most important.

Lindholm is so cranky. "LIKE I SAID! I'VE BEEN CLEAR!" but i'm not sure what he actually has said or been clear about.
It's basically:
"How many times do i have to ####in tell you....i'm not telling you anything just like i told you before!!!"

Not if the team is winning. As soon as the games start, the contract talk will hopefully dissipate.
