I just don't think Terry is in the cards. I firmly believe he and Zegras are signing 8 year deals in Anaheim. Their RW depth is atrocious, Terry fills more of a need for them while they figure out if some of their top end D prospects are going to make the team or not, as well as seeing how Drysdale fares post injury.
Imo, a deal around 2024 or 2025 2nd + one of their top D prospects (+ something else) would be ideal. maybe both 2nds in both years since the Ducks' 2nd will be high. Hanifin would be a good option with an 8 year deal in place in Anaheim. The only thing I hate about it is the in-division trade. No thanks.

Have to think who ever misses out on Karlsson between the canes and pens circles back to Hanafin?

This is how I think of Troy Terry, he’s a bit vanilla. I think if we aquire him, he doesn’t replicate his numbers with the Ducks.

So, Terry would be good on the Flames?

If lindholm goes, part of the rumored return is Carlo. That slots the right D really nicely with Anderson, Carlo and Tanev. It also frees up the hanifin trade with weegar, zadorov and kylington slotting in on the left.
|
Have to wonder if Hanifin to Boston is not a higher probability.
Probably looking at a return of Carlo, Lysell, 2025 3rd, and 2026 2nd.
Weegar Andersson
Kylington Carlo
Zadorov Gilbert (I think that Tanev gets traded to the Leafs)

I think that is the big assumption.
Thought it has been speculated that as well as going to the US Hanifin was looking at the east coast to be closer to family.

Is there any indication that Terry would sign a longterm contract in Calgary? He is a UFA next year.

Only if he signs a 1 year deal this summer as RFA.
Not sure that is something that happens.
He does have arb rights, but its still pretty rare these things get that far.

^ Am I to assume that Hanifin's defence score is so low because of a zero for "recoveries"? Which seems impossible.

I don't think it's a zero as much as insufficient data in their model to rate him. I think defensive impact is the main stat there.

But he'll need to sign a long term deal otherwise he's, more or less in the same boat as Hanifin.

Terry for Hanafin is a one step forward, one step back move for the Ducks. Not sure it makes a lot of sense for them unless they don't feel they can or want to pay Terry long term.

Card seems weird for Hanifin. That looks more like a card for Kylington

The Jfresh card for Hanifin would probably be a better indicator of the player.
Those cards by that Andy and Rono always seem weird.
