No, my question was if there is never any positivity in something why persue it? I was not saying a poster can't always be negative, I am asking if something is always a negative why would you want to be so involved with it? I am just trying to understand that mindset when it comes to something that is supposed to be enjoyable like a sports team.

One can hope.

The fact that his production slowed after getting injured (don't see this accounted for in some reports) and he still was a top even strength points producer behind Bedard and a couple top picks gives me hope.

He wasn’t my favorite pick, but I’m warming up to it.

Welcome to the team, Honzek.

Except nobody is disliking everything about the team, they dislike the current direction and make-up of the team.

I would agree if the team went down the rebuild path and they still were negative about it, that would be different but I haven't seen anyone do that.

I would say it isn't about value it is that for most people when they are fans they are fans during the good times and bad times. Part of being a fan is that you stick with the team when things aren't going your way. You still support the team when they do things you don't like, have players you don't like. As people say cheer for the name on the front not the name on the back.

Because some of us are sick of this mediocre team continuing to be mediocre in every possible way.

Never once has this franchise figured out a way to overcome their mediocrity. And when they almost did they let JG and tkachuk leave for bags of pucks to remain mediocre once again.

I appreciate that some people can remain continuously optimistic about every move this organization makes but I’m jaded and while I will always remain a fan, I won’t get my hopes up. Only team to have never drafted in top 3 (I think I heard that this week) and we just kinda suck.

But yeah, I’m happy for those of you who think Honzek is the next blue chip stud we need, and I’ll be happy if it turns out that way, but the odds are against him because of a) draft position and b) the organization who drafted him and I’m not about to congratulate the team on doing anything positive.

And some of us come here because the misery of being a fan of this team is nice, it’s like a good book or an old friend that’s always there for you. Can set your watch to the flames always finishing 8th-24th in standings 99% of the time and sucking in the playoffs or blowing the draft pick depending on what side of that scale they’re on

Just want to see them do something bold for ####ing one time

Two outlets have him as a top-10 selection.

ONE GUY (Button) had Jankowski as a 1st round pick going into the draft.
What were the players above him ranked at, given he was 3 spots early and there would have had to be others who dropped below their rankings.

I also like to remember Hunter Smith, who was an oversized plug putting up completely unimpressive junior numbers. The biggest difference in their stat line is a paltry scoring difference for this putz we drafted and about 5" in height for Hunter Smith.

Thank God we didn't tank this year and have a chance at that bedard kid.

I’m just curious after reading this big rant. Who do you think was the better pick in this spot?

How do you know the only reason they hate the pick is because of negativity? Are we really suggesting that the only reason not to like the pick is to be negative? And how would you have the slightest idea of how they would react to a different pick?

For clarification, he's talking about Honzek's teammate in Vancouver, Jaden Lipinski.

Who were you pulling for?

It will be interesting to see how our wish lists pan out in comparison to Honzek.

I hope Moore was as overrated as a couple posts suggested.

Who cares. I truly don’t care who they picked at 16. The fact they tried to make playoffs last year when we knew they wouldn’t a) get there or b) make any noise had they got in meant they finished middle of the pack.

It’s not Honzek who’s the problem, it’s the fact that he or similar is all that was available that’s the issue.

Instead of selling at the deadline and being able to get into the top8 and get a better chance at a legit star

I don’t hate this pick, I know nothing about this player. But I hate the flames, so I hate this pick. I also hate myself, which makes hating everything a lot more palatable.

Funny, you would say that. Watching Honzek's highlight video it struck me that he looks like he plays the game a lot like Draisatl, minus the nut spearing of course.

Ah, yeah man, I get the frustration but you got to cheer for another team if you expect a proactive rebuild lol.

I wanted ASP/Barlow/Musty/Moore since he was there. Was a bit mad when Detroit picked ASP.

I'm actually not trolling this website. I've been a Flames fan my entire life. I'm sorry my posts have been negative. I didn't like the Toffoli trade, Honzek seems like a 3rd liner, and I'm frustrated that the Flames didn't trade Lindholm or Hanifin for a first round pick this year.

My posts have been negative on this site. I'm sorry if that's been triggering for people here.

I haven't posted here since 2016, but have been reading the website pretty much every day since like 2005.

I hate the Oilers more than I love the Flames. That's how much of a Flames fan I am.

I'm so glad the Oilers lost to Vegas. It was the most fun I've had since we beat the stars.

I am bummed that you're accusing me of being a troll, though.

I can't help but be pessimistic about the Flames. They have been a mediocre team for the past 20 years, and it's been frustrating. They had 2006, 2009, 2015, 2019 and 2022 as the only decent years to be a Flames fan.

I was actually excited about the team between 2013 and 2017. They were young, up and comers. This team now is not young, and I'm afraid that they'll be paying Kadri, Huberdeau and now Lindholm into their late 30s.

I'm not a troll. I'm just a pessimistic fan who is tired of ownership not supporting a rebuild.

Fata you.
