Luckily Huberdeau isn't going anywhere....Lindholm will never come close to living up to that contract and the last 4 years could be UGLY once he's more of a 3C putting up 40-50 points.

Maybe a few bottom feeders will go that high, but I don't see it.

Oh I think there is zero chance he signs somewhere next summer. He will either sign with the Flames or with whatever team he gets traded too

That is how I feel. I am sure he will age well with that contract and still be a 60 point elite defensive center at the end of it. He is a top 10 200 foot player in the league right now and that type of hockey smarts does not disappear the same way raw skill can. He is not Phil Kessel.

Elias will give up over 10 million if he goes elsewhere, guaranteed.
This is why he's probably sitting on the offer
Wrestling between being discontent with the Flames situation/outlook and the allure of extra $ he won't get by moving on.

If that’s the offer and he did not accept it immediately one would hope the Flames would have some balls and say that to his face.

If he's asking for any more than that at this point I think it's time to move on. That should be best and final from the Flames.

True. At least Elias would be full value for a few of those years.
Unlike the Huberdeau contract where I don't think he'll live up to the cap hit throughout.

I think he means:
9 x 8, or 8.5 x 7. Loses over 10m with the latter.

From a % of cap perspective the offer is right where it should be. If it's a premium, the premium is less than $350k a year. Not sure it's worth getting hot and bothered about.
Horvat Contract: 10.3% of cap
Lindholm offer: 10.8% of cap
Forwards in that bracket:
Matt Barzal 11.1% of cap
Kirill Kaprizov 11.0% of cap
Ryan Johansen 10.7% of cap
Patrick Laine 10.5% of cap
Dylan Larkin 10.5% of cap
Timo Meier 10.5% of cap
Mika Zibanejad 10.4% of cap
Evgeny Kuznetsov 10.4% of cap
Sebastial Aho 10.4% of cap
Blake Wheeler 10.4% of cap

Yeah. I think there is zero chance Lindholm isn’t signed somewhere this summer though. My guess is he signs here or is gone by first week of July

Difference being the age of those players. I would gladly trade Lindholm 1 for 1 for barzal, or aho

Has there been any team in the league that had 3+ players that were locked up until they were 37/38 years old?
If we do extend Lindholm, we would have four contracts that were locked up until guys are 37+.
Huberdeau
Kadri
Weegar
Possibly Lindholm

Lindholm at 29-37 may be a contract you can stomach but not when they already have Huberdeau signed from 30-38 and Kadri from 33-37.

I like what Conroy said when he wants people who want to be here.
Fair offer? Done I love the City
Not squeeze an extra 2 mill over 8 years.
He's not Crosby, He's not Gaudreau or Tkachuk. What Drink does he stir?
Please do not over pay him with losing the assets that he will bring in.

SJ had what seemed like half their team locked up till that age at one point.

Flames are the desperate bridesmaids here. They see all their friends getting married and are afraid of their perception. It doesn't matter what Lindholm will get elsewhere. The Flames are definitely not near the top of the division, nor will be in the next bit to have so many vets locked up. It just goes completely against logic to be doing this. Terrible. Shame on them if they did it.
