Buffalo has a great pipeline of prospects which makes them a great trading partner, but seems like the Flames aren't fully going that route

I don't disagree but the contract isn't a ridiculous offer. On the small chance he gets traded, he will get at least 8.5 this summer

That offer reeks of desperation. Embarrassing.

If he gets traded to a team where he gets placed in a second line center role he may be lucky to get a 8 next year.
If he is turning down 9 x 8 from us don't let the door hit your ass on the way out

We’ll see I’ll take the over on 8 pretty easily if I team trades for him this summer. It will be a sign and trade.

That salary demand is going to hurt his trade value unless the team acquiring him is happy having a cheap 1 year rental.

This may have already been addressed....but why would one want Nylander at this point?
He is going to command 9 or 10M per on a 7 or 8 year deal after the next season.
One 10M per winger on this team is more than enough already.

I'd take the over on 8 as well, but he's turning down 9. Do you take the over on 9?

So the Flames are just upping the offer until he decides he wants to be in Calgary then? There is no way that Conroy is driving that bus. This reeks of Edwards rubbing his hands all over this negotiation.
How could anyone in hockey ops think that it is a good idea to have $26M + AAV tied up in 3 declining forwards into their late 30s? Nobody could be that dense in this day and age. And yes, Lindholm is at or will be at his peak in the next 2 years.

Would make a good poll.

To be fair - you're 100% right, there is no hivemind. It just feels that way sometimes. There is definitely a spectrum of opinions on most everything the team does, even if it feels like a certain point-of-view is more vocal on a particular issue.
Attributing it to the hivemind is lazy shorthand on my part.

So they couldn’t overpay tkachuk as an RFA but willing to overpay everyone on a sub par roster after he’s gone. Great

I think part of this is Edwards' ego. It was tarnished last off-season and he's trying to save face right now, even if it means vastly overpaying for Lindholm.

Was listening to Kyper and Bourne radio show and Futa was the guest and said he heard Flames offered Lindholm a $72M contract. God damn, run. What are they doing? Locking down a bunch of guys in a few years will be on the senior circuit 4th line. Much rather they deal him and get a hefty return, and being comfortable with dealing most of the valuable guys for a young retool. The second he signs that 8 year deal for that much his value is going to poop.

I highly doubt he's going to be able to sign with a decent team for that kind of money. Especially if he has another 60 point season too.
Maybe a few bottom feeders will go that high, but I don't see it.

Lindholm becomes enemy no.1 on this team with that contract. He goes stretches where you have no clue he is playing on offence, especially last season. At 9 million he needs to be producing like he was with JG and MT and I do not think he is capable of that. He has not shown the level of play those two did.

I have always liked Lindholm, and I think he's under-rated by some. But I don't want to commit 8 X $9M for him, with where the franchise is right now.
