This is his opportunity to do an ego stroke and trot himself as the Flames insider and have the opportunity to go on no name shows and podcasts like the YouTube video.

“Some” may not give him credit, but I didn’t see much, if anything, in the way of him not being built for the playoffs. Fans might not want him to do well, or are indifferent now that he plays for another team, but I don’t think his competitiveness was ever questioned.

It’d be halfway through the second, Flames would be completely dominating the game and pace and shot clock, but a bad goal against, two posts hit, and it would be only 2-1 when it should’ve been 4-0.
Then a Pp goal against, bad few minutes, and by mid third it’s 3-2 the other team, or 3-3 and they lose in OT.

I had a lot more fun watching Hartley hockey. This year if the team was down in the third with the goalie pulled, you may as well shut the game off. It was amazing how they were never able to turn on the offence and dominate when desperation time hit.

Steve Dangle streamed the whole Leafs Panthers game 1 on Youtube and basically said he had no idea how a Calgary Flames team with Bennett and Tkachuk was a failure under Darryl Sutter, and how Bennett could not even get quality ice time.
Bear in mind, this was basically the same team with Gaudreau, Lindholm, Giordano (and Dougie and Brodie?). Absolute failure of coaching under Gulutzan, Peters, and Sutter.

Bennett didn't play for Sutter that long really.

No, and neither have you.
There are any one of a dozen ways this roster could be reshaped over the next three months.

Results driven and the results weren’t there.
Coaching decisions versus a toxic/difficult work environment are very different aspects of this.
Putting your 4th line out with less than 2 minutes to go and you’re down by a goal= coaching decision
Making inappropriate or disparaging comments about your players in a press conference=toxic behavior and not a positive workplace.

Well he didn't really research what happened with Bennett then. Sutter was brought in and he really started to turn a huge corner under him, and then the long planned trading of Bennett happened right around then.

Just my two cents.
Personally I was okay with Sutter up until the end of the season, but the Nick Ritchie shootout decision with the season on the line really made me think the team needed a new direction.
Probably someone who understands the importance of 3-on-3 OT and SO in the modern game (no point in having a team built for 5-on-5 OT if you can't make the playoffs).
Whoever comes in now, I want them to give everyone on the Wranglers a fair shot with the big club because that team looks like a great cornerstone for the franchise from which to build.

No surprise about Torts as unlike Sutter he doesn't play favorites with certain players and vets as it doesn't matter if you are a franchise player, grisled vet, or rookie you will sit if you aren't pulling your weight he will bench them. It makes things much simpler for players when they know that if they work hard they will play no matter who they are. It's the uncertainty and mind games that drive players crazy.

Yeah, if you play hard for Torts he will throw himself on media grenades for you.

I can't see it but I hope so. One of the major issues with this roster is that I think it is pretty inflexible what you can do with because of the many unmovable deals and players that aren't good enough to win you anything but good enough to ensure that you don't win anything. I can't see anyway forward we can remake this roster into the rebuild, young team with an exciting potential that we need.
I will also say that (unlike most people here) there isn't a player on the team that I would care if we lost from the roster, from a skill perspective and personal perspective. There is nobody on the team or prospect group I feel a strong connection to or am a huge fan. I know many would point to someone like Wolf, but I have seen too much goalie voodoo to get excited about a goalie prospect or Coronato, but to me he looks like just another ok prospect that might have an ok-ish career. I think having no player that grabs your attention or that I see as key to the team probably skews my view.
