Well you can certainly argue that Tkachuk's game and 100+ points shipped in for Huberdeau, was the difference in the Panthers being able to dig in and get past a team like the Bruins in the playoffs.
What have we gotten out of Huberdeau here? Pouty pants who's comments reflect someone who quit on the team whether he did or not.

It would be pretty funny if the NDP wins...kills the deal and Edward's announces that Sutter is back in as coach. It would be like that story Peter Mahaer told about his days in Toronto when he held a press conference to fire Roger Neilson...never told Roger until after the plane ride...than on Tuesday before their next game brought him back to coach.

I actually do like a lot of what you have to say, your opinions are pretty interesting. But I think flamws fans often would rather accept the mediocrity, rather than call it out.

You mean Sutter's "own the ice on the boards, own the puck, and scoring opportunities will come" over "use the open ice to get pucks to spots where the defense and goaltender have to move, creating great scoring opportunities" wasn't effective and led to poor results?

I still think player usage and the reluctance to play youth under Sutter is in the end why he needed to go.
Just looking at these playoffs so far...
Akira Schmid was huge in getting New Jersey home ice and then saved the series down 2-0...would Wolf have been given that same opportunity here.
Matthew Knies has been on the ice for all 3 OT winners for the Leafs and is at 0.5 PPG in his 8 NHL games...Coronato wasn't given a game until we were eliminated officially and I doubt Sutter would have had him in playoff OT situations if we made it.
Dawson Mercer has been great for New Jersey each of the last two seasons...Pelletier is 7 months older and their junior production was about the same but Pelletier needed 100 AHL games while Mercer didn't play a single one.
Seth Jarvis is helping Carolina win their division...Connor Zary and him had similar WHL stats. Jarvis played 9 AHL games and goes right to the NHL, Zary has played 134 AHL games without getting an NHL look even though he was the best of the bubble guys coming out of camp and could have easily been given a game as a reward.
I know this is an overly simplistic view, and not all prospects are created equally but incorporating Wolf, Pelletier, Coronato, and Zary next year is going to be essential to this team having success and it just couldn't be left at the hands of Sutter to favour the veterans again.

The arena deal is at the bottom of my list of what I care about. A reporter shouldn't be spewing fake news and telling people who to vote for.

It's just so strange his comment right after the first LA cup was. These guys are young enough we can do it again next season.
In Calgary everyone sucked according him.

The point is the NDP hasn't committed either way, so it is weird for a journalist to push for a side.

I don't agree with that at all. I think having him focus so much on the defensive side of things, and 'playing the right way' is what got him ff his game. Then other things kept adding to it, like poor play from his line-mates, poor line selection, playing the off wing, Sutter's comments, and it all grew into a mountain on him before he could dig his way out.
But much f the problem, from the start, generated from Sutter's actions and deployment, IMO.

I think hoping those players are going to be ready to contribute anything significant is a very risky plan going forward. They may have some similarities to the players mentioned but the differences are the main reasons the players mentioned are having success and were ranked higher coming out of junior as well. Outside of Knies, who wasn't really handled that differently from Coronato.

One thing about Sutter is that in general he always had the boys ready to play. I know last season that didn't seem to be the case (look how many 1st shots Markstrom let in... hard to fault him for that).
The man knew how to get the team ready for puck drop. I just look back at our previous coaches and that was hardly ever the case. Not looking forward to that aspect, although from the sounds of it it seems like he was thrown under the bus by a few players but you cant question that they respected him (as noted by how hard they pushed all season). Turning an assistant into a head coach or having a rookie AHL coach with this veteran locker room. I just dont know.

They did generally have good starts. And then they let the first shot be a two on one or breakaway. Almost counterproductive.

The team under Bill Peters first season also had proper starts.
Pretty similar seasons actually one big line with career years and a 4th player heaving a career year.
Only difference was Smith was awful and Markstrom was supposed to be a difference maker.
