It's hard to think things are going well for the Calgary Flames when THAT many high performing/quality individuals walk away from the organization.

Treliving walking away just makes me think things are in a bad spot, and that (pessimistically) the organization isn't self-aware enough to begin to correct them.

My give a crap about the Flames factor has really gone downhill over the years. I mostly just wish things were better so my kids could have more to cheer for. At this point it's hard to continue to groom them to be Flames fans when the grass is definitely greener in so many other yards. I guess as long as they don't end up Oilers or Canucks fans it's a win...

Brad chose to leave. This team is a dumpster fire and he is getting out when he can. Its an impossible team to recruit players to, and combine that with the meddling owners?

They will probably keep Sutter to make it look like this was their choice. But, its not.
Speculation or Fact?

Are you speculating or is this based on some factual info you have heard?

I take it that you know people in the organization?

I just wonder what those exit interviews brought up.

I don't doubt it that the players asked Brad if Sutter was getting canned and he probably told them no.

He probably took that back to Edwards and made a recommendation to fire him and this what we get today Sutter winning out because of his friendship with ownership.

I don't if that's what happened but I am just taking a guess, the players being blunt about not committing to Calgary and a lot of sullen faces probably knowing they are stuck with this guy.

Don’t like the current interim selection but hopefully it’s just till they find a qualified candidate

Except the "wild summer" will probably be us trading the guys who want to leave for lackluster returns since the other GMs know they want out. And then overpaying other vets to come here as free agents to fill the spots because Sutter trusts experience more than potential.

Round and round we go.

Was thinking of starting a new thread - should we? About potential GM candidates?

List off the top of my head:

- Craig Conroy
- Stan Bowman
- Chiarelli
- Benning
- Hextall
- Dale Talon

Who do you want out of this above list? Hmm thinking we should def start a new thread...

Who am I missing? Any AGMs around the league who have been working in their role for many years, waiting for a chance? Though if they did that, Conroy would be mighty upset and I wouldn't blame him.

This is the only thing that will get their attention. Clearly results don't do it.

That is the best news of the day if true. If a new GM can pick his staff then I am more optimistic they won't be a complete dud.

Echoing what alot of other posters are saying.

So many key people leaving or wanting out in such a short time frame. Something stinks and coincidentally it aligns with Sutter coming in.

Not saying it's all Sutter. Maybe it's how ownership has handled the Sutter situation.

Either way its feeling more and more like a sinking ship and those who can get off are. This organization desperately needs something positive to change the narrative.
