Coronato's been staying at Dube's place and he's been a mentor to him

No brainer to bring by Stetcher on a league minimum basis, the guy came in and gave everything to a team who you couldnt say the same about.
I'd take him as a 6th/7th D.

I would have no problem at all moving on from Backlund and Lindholm. They have been great here, but they also define the recent regime, more than any other players. If you want to change the culture and psyche of the team, those are the primary guys to make that happen.

definitely re-sign Stecher. Shouldn't take more than the $1.25M that he cost this year.

Not a great question by Leslie to Stone about being unknown unless i heard it wrong.

If Lindholm and Backlund declared they don't want to extend, then the rebuild has started.
The tough part is you have Huberdeau, Weegar and Kadri on long term deals and a win-now coach.
Interesting times.
If it's truly the case, then you start by trading Toffoli, Hanifin & Andersson. Markstrom too, if he waives.

Pretty hard to criticize Stone all things considered. I enjoyed Francis' question asking if he had signed his next 1 year contract yet.

I'm appreciating Marky here too. Open.
So far, there's some pretty key differences between Marky, Huby, Weegs and Backlund and Lindholm.
|
The newer employees tend to always be the happiest. They havent been ground down over multiple years by a toxic environment with Sutter and Peters before that and for Backlund, Hartley and Keenan. I dont doubt that this team is not a fun place to play over the years. They have a certain type of atmosphere and coach that they like. I dont blame Backlund or Lindholm one bit. They stuck it out for years and always did it with a smile. They have earned the right to go where they want. Do whats best for your family and your mental health. This might be the straw that finally broke the camels back. If the Flames are smart enough to get a return rather than letting them walk its no problem. No hard feelings. We need to rebuild and if its with a gun thier head so be it.

This is fine. Dallas sat on Seguin and Benn. Minnesota is a top team with 12 mill in dead cap from the Suter and Parise buyouts. A smart team can still build around anchors. Hopefully the Flames are one of them.

Vladar is a tough one because I love the guy and he is a great Flame, but Wolf's time is coming and Markstrom is virtually unmovable for the time being.
If contracts didn't play into things, I'd run with Vladar and Wolf indefinitely.

Other reason to move them is that if it has reached the point where they openly talk about it, then their head was gone months and months ago. Next year is likely to be very challenging and you need committed players, not regretful ones.
