I feel like that question to Lucic flipped a switch in him internally that he wasn’t ready for realizing that he still wants to play but may not have anywhere in the league to do it. Was definitely wasn’t mentally ready to be giving a going away speech on a whim.

They wouldn't have been basing their positions on comments that the players made to the media. They would have had their own conversations with them, multiple times, with pointed questions.
