If Backs goes, give Huberdeau 11. Help get that mojo back. Oh, and fire Sutter.

I think Huby is an absolute pro.

This season went sour, but I love having that guy on the team. You saw it with Pelts this year, he's a good guy to have around young players.

"I didn't lose my talent in 5 months"

"Maybe I gotta play a lil different here"

"gotta bounce back, and that's what I'm gonna do"

I mentioned this in the Huberdeau thread but I think there has been some major friction between players this year behind the scenes. They did not seem to battle for each other at all besides a few notables. Probably a warning to other teams not to make too many changes at once, even though this team was forced into it. Never know how personalities will mesh and get along.

I agree.

Huby: signs 8 year deal
Lindy: "I've got one year left, that's all I'm gonna say"

I know which player I'm cheering for.

"Me and Darryl will figure it out together"

Give Huby the "C".

He knows he had a bad season, but everything he is saying is about personal accountability and trying to navigate his own failures. Love Huby.

Doesn't surprise me some of the players are unhappy, so many head scratching coaching decisions over the course of the season. Darryl is horribly biased to certain players and it hurt their chances of winning.

Was just thinking this, wonder if the problem is between certain players?

I like Huberdeau a lot. He's a very professional guy. Honestly I am really going to be cheering for a return to form for him.

He's not full of crap when talking about the coach or anything.

Also, kudos to the reporters for asking difficult questions.

That's fair. I only said deadline because Calgary I'm assuming will try and make the playoffs next year and they would still get a large haul at the deadline. Unlike the Gaudreau situation, Lindholm would have to get moved 100% before the season is done (learning from the Gaudreau situation).

At the draft, if a team is willing to make a player for player swap I think it benefits Calgary. But if it's for picks/prospects and Lindholm is dealt (and a replacement comes from within and not a UFA which is hard to predict), Calgary would take a large step back.

But I do see what you are saying.

If they don't want to be Flames then that's fine with us. We'll take players who do.

There will be coaches like Sutter out there too. At least here, the fans and city will GAF.
Let's be realistic here. If I wasn't a Flames fan, I wouldn't want to be a Flames fan.

This organization has done very little for fans to cheer.

Now just imagine being a player. Why would you want to be here?

Hard to get upset at them about that. As fans, we shouldn't be upset at the players. The organization needs to step it up because it has fallen behind significantly in this league as a desirable destination.

It also makes me appreciate guys like Weegar, Lewis and Zadorov. 100% every shift especially at the end. I'd give Weegar a letter as well.

Yes, I loved that he said they'd figure it out together. But then he also went on to say that he played RW for 2 months after playing LW his whole career. This is just me guessing completely, but he's committed to Calgary but would prefer Sutter not be back is my guess.

Yeah, and I just don't see this organization ever making that sort of decision with a player like that in a season. If they're close, they'll keep 'em.

I'm appreciating Marky here too. Open.

So far, there's some pretty key differences between Marky, Huby, Weegs and Backlund and Lindholm.

Working smart? Different question.
Columbus? Hey let's party with Johnny....who cares about the game!

Ducks and Chicago: we're better than these guys...probably don't need to do much to win...oops....(yes, they played better in the third periods....)

Kadri gives me the impression of that guy that is an on-call substitute that shows up when you have too many sick players on your rec team.

Just there to play, no connection to the team.

Doesn't appear to have meshed with any one.

I like Lindholm on this team, but i also can sympathize with him this season too. Lost his two linemates that gave him his best season ever, and then the lack of chemistry found with the new guy (Huberdeau) or lack of time given to develop that chemistry. Add in the disappointment of not winning, I'd feel like I was stuck between a rock and a hard place too on commenting on my future.

Re: Huberdeau/Markstrom responses. I like them a lot. Professional, forward thinking, introspective. I do like what i see, and think they'll come back refreshed and better for next year.
