It is too early to determine this.

I disagree. A forward looking management doesn't always have to be about draft picks. If that was the direction management wanted to go they'd have committed to it in July.

A forward looking management team would see this team, the current contracts it has, and do everything in their power to win in the next 7-8 years because like it or not they're stuck with those deals and they won't be bad enough to rebuild for a while. They have created a window for themselves. They should be trying to win now because that's what they've committed to this off season.

If anything, I think it's more likely that the team trades Vladar if Wolf somehow forces himself into the NHL.
 |
Didn't that literally happen this last off-season with Monahan? Ottawa was able to move Matt Murray, who was in much worse shape, which makes me believe there still might be some potential to deal Markstrom if it came to it...

I absolutely LOVE Mantha when he’s on, but unfortunately he mails it in more often than not these days. When he’s going, he’s a FORCE- he’s huge, he can move, and he’s scary physical (even borderline dirty at times). He just doesn’t show up a lot any more- maybe gun shy because of all the injuries.

If Sutter could milk some of that good stuff out though……

He seems like the type that gets jaded from being traded. Went on a good point streak when the caps first got him. Imo motivation through this season might not be an issue, and hopefully Sutter could impact beyond that.

Sutter is still trying to milk Ruzicka having two players that need ass kicking all the time will be tough to swallow.

Konecny is truly the perfect fit. Right shot, can play with an edge, solid offensively, lives in Calgary during the offseason so would likely want to be here.

Well that's an encouraging piece of info, considering he plays in the Eastern USA, and is from Eastern Canada.

The rumour is that his partner is from Calgary, hence why he has Calgary ties.

I agree that he would be a perfect fit given his style of play. It's a total pipe dream, but I would love it if the Flames could get him and his cousin, Horvat. It would take some wizardry the like of which has never been seen though.

Even just to get Konecny, I imagine any trade would have to start with Coronato going to Philly. The Flames just can't afford to be trading any more futures at this point though.

I don't know how the Flames can make it work but adding Konecny and Schenn would be a huge boost to this team. Even bigger if Kylington returns this year.

If Kylington returns that's a position that no longer needs filling. If Mangiapane starts to score, that's like an acquisition.

Why would the Flyers part with their best forward? Torts loves him so I can't see why the Flyers would even entertain trading him unless the offer was astronomical.

Tough to see how the Flames can make it work. Interesting to see Konecny breakout after a couple of down years but better now playing for Torts. Leads me to believe he would be a great Sutter player.

I figure it would need to be heavily futures based and I would be hesitant to do it. I think it is wishful thinking but as an overall fit it would be amazing

I'm interested in a guy who has virtually no cost, has chemistry with Huberdeau, and was a total beast after the insult of last year's deadline. A guy who may seem like he's playing out the string, but can throw the switch if motivated. A guy Huberdeau described as the x factor during one of his most successful seasons.

Would be highly motivated in a potential playoff series against Vegas too.
I'm on board.

I would be okay with this type of add. Drouin or Dandonov are the type of rentals I want the Flames chasing. Not Freddie Modin level of poor but let’s not burn through more picks in the first 2 rounds with this current group the way they are playing.
