Does anyone have insurance rates like these people in that report are getting? I found a comparable person that has a 4 year older vehicle with less than half the milage in that report and the report has them paying 25% more.
Do the government insurers offer bundling and discounts for adding house coverage? The report specifically indicates they don’t apply any of those discounts. In a private insurer province you’d expect the bundling and discounts to be higher then in a government only province.
That said insurance of vehicles and house should be regulated with an overhead plus profit model based on actuarial predictions.
Edit: I figured out what they did. They took the median insurance offer from the provinces with private insurers and not the minimum offer. I think this is a misleading methodology as in genera you should be shopping for insurance. In general Alberta is still more expensive but it makes it closer rather than double.
In genera where Albertans get screwed is kids learning to drive being double the non private sector provinces.

No, you dolt, that's not how it's done. The courts will do it for them.

I moved to SK and the insurance here is about 10% more with the same vehicles than it was in AB. Anecdotal and tough to compare company by company, but that's my story.
Mind you, the insurance here seems like a way better set up too, as the plates themselves cover some insurance so you literally cannot drive with a license plate and be uninsured to some degree. I believe the 'plate' insurance covers about $250k liability. Then you can add on separate policies on top if you want more.
Sadly they also did the out of jurisdiction scam thing where you have to get your vehicle inspected for conjured up reasons and then an autobody shop gets to go make up a bunch of #### you have to do to your vehicles with little to no real improvement in safety so that mechanics get a little bit of money, for some reason. Such a scam.

Jeezus, do people really enjoy being brainwashed by that nonsense? I love the complaints of "legacy media" while the same people slobber all over this tripe. Like, no wonder you are so misled, these people are charlatans and you are the rube. Congrats.

The legacy media tripe is ridiculous in Canada when basically every newspaper in this country outside of the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail are right leaning at minimum.

Can”t trust the “legacy/mainstream/laurentian elite” media because Jim-Bob Jones from Hardisty whose never been farther east than Winnipeg knows the REAL truth that Ottawa doesn’t want you to know.
It’s like watching a horror film where one guy says let’s split up because it’s the only REAL plan to get out alive. Sticking together is for sheep………

I love that pretty much every twitter response doesn't get that it is satire. And just a headline with no article.

On the flipside, can I say just how absolutely ####ing hilarious it is that Rick Bell's padded chastisements of our rolling dumpsterfire government are met with hellish vitriol from the Sun's peanut gallery?
The absolute Charmin soft marks that make up the UCP base cannot handle any criticism and they are constantly mad about it.
