If this form stands, England vs France would be mouthwatering quarterfinal (B1 vs D1)

Agentina is like the 04 Flames with Iginla...one guy to carry the team against superior squads. Obviously they should beat the Saudis but they really aren't a high end team they have a high end player and some good and okay players.

Should come up with names when all former imperialist countries or countries that have had atrocities committed too, please.
England
Argentina
Spain
France
US
Croatia
Serbia
Portugal
Canada
South Korea
Etc
Etc
Etc
Current or recent atrocities are always fair play though.

Last world cup Argentina lost 3-0 to Croatia and scrambled to 2nd place only to lose to France in the 16s.
If they scramble to 2nd place this time, they will again get France in the 16s.

I'll come up with a doozy for when England-USA face off. I'm open to suggestions too.

I want to say it’s a different France this time, but who knows

That would have felt a like a Flames game for Argentinian fans. Score the first goal, dominate possession, should have been up 3 at half time, and lose because of a few minutes of defensive breakdowns where the opponent scores on their only chances. I can feel their pain.

Agreed. They looked unstoppable but relying on 36 year old Giroud up front might be a bit much. I’m surprised they didn’t take Lacazette or Martial once Benzema couldn’t go.

Are they really relying on him though? Mbappe looked good and Dembele looked extremely good to me. They’re just so deep that if the players they have step up, they’re fine.

Lets just hope the French have peaked too soon and crumble because that was a pretty comprehensive performance.
Now, Australia arent all that great and I think we could have more or less seen this coming, that said the scorching pace of Mbappe and Dembele are going to be problems for everyone but I was surprised that the Aussies played in such a way as to let them get up to speed to run at their back line.
That strategy was chosen...poorly.

I actually thought it was Griezmann pulling a lot of the strings today. Mbappe was actually quite wasteful at times but his pace is unplayable.
But yeah I don't see France having any issues with most teams, the talent and pace will take over as the match wears on.
England IMO is actually a good match for them. On current form I'm taking Rice+Bellingham over Rabiot+Tchouameni. And Kane over Giroux.
They have Trippier/Walker/Shaw who have some pace at the back (I'd like it better with a healthy James)
Saha and Sterling aren't as good as Mbappe and Dembele (nobody are), but they have a ton of pace as well.
As GirlySports said that would be an amazing and super intriguing Quarter Final match up as both teams are ultra talented.
Really France, England, Brazil, and probably Spain are clearly the 4 favouites this year IMO. Argentina as 2nd betting favourites was always rated to high to me.

False. Watching England lose at the World Cup is like half the fun.
