Why is sportsnet in such a hurry to get to monster truck Michaels and the dumpster fires? If an oilers game just ended they’d spend twenty minutes analyzing Mcdavid’s play instead of cutting to another game.

.900 save percentage teams don't make the playoffs. Save percentage is as much a team stat as it is an individual stat... however...
We're the 4th best team at preventing High-Danger scoring chances, and have the 6th worst save percentage on them per natural stat trick.
We will go as far as Markstrom is able to take us this year.

It’s very obviously biased / rigged. Has been for awhile. It doesn’t make you a loser to point out obvious slant. It’s actually literally just talking about the game……
….. every game….

Of course it's both. "Manhattan boy" said the game was 100 percent on the refs, which in nonsensical imo.

Blame the refs all you want.
Anderson lost the game.

Bad reffing is apart of the game. And the team is allowing it to get into their heads. It's apparent. I expect it from fans. It's an outlet to vent frustration. But I've been here on CP since 2011 and it's the same old same old complaining about the reffing. Eventually you should learn It's never going to change.it just isn't. There's going to be no referendum, no glorious revolutionary change to how the game is reffed.

Enough with rolling all 4 lines. The top line played around 16 minutes, and the 4th line near 14. Wtf. Meanwhile Barzal played like 24. That was a weak ass call in Anderson, but come on, like don't give the refs anything to call you on with 1:40 on the clock.

He really did all he could to give the islanders a win tonight.
Goal on the 1st shot of the game (although not his fault), soft goal to tie it in the third, and a goal on their first shot in OT.
Sorokin handedly outplayed him. High danger chances were 17-10, expected goals were 3.9 to 2.7 and it was the flames that lost 4-3.
Refs also contributed but Markstrom needs to be better. Other goalies have made big saves to keep their team in this year, Markstrom not so much.
|
Not gonna lie, this is beginning to feel a bit like the Hiller/Ramo era.
You can't have a .900 or worse save % on a nightly basis for an extended period of time and continue to point the finger at the team in front of you. At some point you have to make a save. Especially when you're making $6M per year.
The team is having its struggles defensively, absolutely. But on nights like tonight one extra save can make all the difference. Marky just hasn't been making that extra save this year.

Also have to mention Markstrom with 4 goals on an XGA of 2.7.
Tough to outplay an opponent badly and lose.

They forced them to play by different rules...Islanders were aloud to shove guys to their hearts content
Its a slight push and the guy dives into the net
Coleman was about to put the Flames up 4-1 when he was hauled down by a stick parallel to his waist

I would like to know how much the refs had on the game tonight. Even sad, pathetic teams get powerplays. You would think with that much pressure, the Isles might have committed at least one infraction.
If those are the same refs tomorrow, I might not bother watching.

It's called "frustration".
Like it or not, the Refs influenced the game's outcome tonight.

people are really going to say that if we started OT on a pp like we should have it wouldn't have affected the outcome? or if they called a penalty before they tied it up in the 3rd?
If you're not calling penalties in ot then don't call both ways, you would think the ref would have felt bad about the non call on markstrom and maybe let that bump by ras, that had no effect on the play, go. Obviously the officials didn't give a #### at all.

I think NHL refs should be subject to the same scrutiny that an NFL refs goes through

Mainly because they looked so good with Kadri to start the year. Now they are just..........there. Huge disappointments right now. Gotta get going.

skill players have to play more . Hubey and Lindy had something going then they get sat for more time in the final 40 . this is how you end up with 47 shots and only 3 goals

I said the exact same thing in July. Allot of this goals were weird bounces and almost flukes. Bread is a great third line energy guy and could get 15-20 goals on a good year. But when they talked about making him a potential first line right winger, I couldn’t believe how people thought that was a good idea.
I’ve never like dube, he doesn’t seem much better than a 3rd maybe 4th liner. Way to inconsistent.
Our first line is ####. Why can’t people just admit it. We don’t have the skill on the right wing and Huberdeau is playing average. Imo.
