Summary is that they don't want him with this contract even for free now. Lol

I think Weegar, although an Anglophone, is proficient in French.

His body language is in French so it's hard to say.

That was definitely me, and I have to admit I have been very negative about the team as of recently. But I'm happy to say in this case I was wrong! Go Flames Go

I think that's a part of it, but also, to many people's dismay on CP, I bet Francis has great relationships with Flames staff, including Treliving and through. People see what they want to see, but he very clearly has access to people and if they didn't like him (the way people here like to guess), he would be kept at a distance. And before someone mentions how Sutter seems to be ornery when answering Francis so he must hate him. You're right, he is combative, but Sutter is that way with almost all media .

I guess Francis is a bit of a fan boy "journalist" - I don't really read his stuff besides the odd article but doesn't he follow Spector's general plan of sucking up to the organization in his writing, or is this dead wrong?
I remember him promoting CalgaryNext.

I know you are joking, but he actually does seem a little more animated and loose when speaking French.

Is French his first language? If so I would expect that to be the case, no?

Totally not unexpected, but I don't think it is always a big factor. I get the sense with Huberdeau, it is a bigger factor than it was for guys like Tanguay, Gelinas, or Hartley for example.
