Is there an around the league report, specifically tied to the Habs media and associated salt with us signing him?
I would like to see that given their arrogance and assumption they would get him

So I don't think it matters as much as others, but I like the idea of you giving it to Backlund or Looch for next year, then they hand it off the year after

Darryl does not have internet access in the offseason and screens all landline calls to the farm. Any numbers not related to family, very close friends and the farm are ignored.

I'm 3 minutes behind, but the french questions so far have almost been identical to the english questions (how was dinner? Was it nice of him to come to montreal? What do you think of the flames roster?) Huberdeau's answers have been absolutely identical. LOL there was a dig about temperature difference between calgary and florida... but he answered it well. Said he will find new passtimes in calgary during the winter without the beach.

All press conferences should end with a reminder to "lotion up".

He was asked about adjusting to the change in weather from Florida to Calgary. He replied something to the effect of "there are certainly different things you can do in Florida but there will be a lot of things to do in Calgary and the adjustment won't be too hard"

3rd french question was asking when he decided to sign long term. Answer: always wanted to sign long term somewhere. It was most important to him to find stability.
oh interesting: did you know right after the dinner you were going to sign? A: no, I wasn't 100% yet. But It was a good dinner and it made me excited to work with him.

Why does Francis always get to get the first question? Is it because he works for Sportsnet, massive client of the NHL?

Ok, I'm not in the loop on the "dinner" that everyone references.
Brad travelled to MTL to have dinner with Jonathan and close the deal?
Any other details I'm missing?

Put him on first to get him out of the way and hope the player forgets about him by the end.
Une stratégie gagnante!

Yup thats it flew all the way there to engage with him - shows a GM caring about the other party
edit: may or may not have been the thing that "closed" the deal, but it showed respect by BT and that the Flames wanted him

The last french question is interesting: How do you feel about entering the team as the leader? Very solid answer from John: In florida I came in confident but was a rookie. Here it will be different, it will take some time to get comfortable and to adjust, but I know my role and am excited to get going and lead. (that last bit I shortened a little but that is the jist)
