You'd have to think Huberdeau extending should also help with the FA fishing.

His contract starts a year later. It should be a lower hit than JG's if that's the comparable because you're buying a year later into his 30s.

I just want everyone on CP to know that I love the community here. I am fortunate to have some very good connections to the team and I would never post something that wasn’t real.

I love that people with connections (like you) post some of the info they get. Thanks for doing it.

And it’s people like you that make this community great. Always fun to have a little inside information.

I still don't quite get the multiple different sources I saw here and also on Canucks.com mentioning they had knowledge of Huberdeau training here in Calgary in the summer. It was at least two reputable posters here and another on CDC saying they had a friend in Calgary who always saw Huberdeau here.
Major case of mistaken identity?

Brad must've charmed, indeed.
This honestly makes sense with the Flames insiders hinting and no one else. Brad has been on a roll with his signings lately too.
I feel like 8 years is 2 years too long.
37 is pretty late in the game for any player. Usually NHL stars are still useful in their roles until 35, but it's a real toss up beyond that.
Might'be been the price to keep him long term. Hoping it's closer to 9AAV than 10.
|
Shocking a professional signing the best deal offered to you.
Except you are Johnny Gaudreau, or wife.

Of course 6 years would be better for the Flames.
But the price of signing premium players is giving them maximum term at maximum AAV.
It will undoubtedly stink during his later years.

I don't know of he/they factored in the expected salary cap increase coming in 23/24. Year closer to that too

I'm really curious what people think Weegar will get?
I'm hoping they look at Torey Krug and Hampus Lindholm and settle at 6.5 per x 8 (top players get 8 years)

Yeah $6.5 million AAV is the number that pops into my head for Weegar.

I really like the idea of signing Weegar. But he could also be traded for a top line right shot winger
