Given his salary and how easy he can fit in at a trade deadline a young cost controlled top 6 forward, an A prospect, and a lottery protected 1st. Possibly more but that is what he could fetch at minimum. Now if the Flames were to retain 50% at the deadline that would really drive up the return as you would have every playoff team bidding.

Swap Compher for Toews and you’ve got a deal.

He is really good at protecting the puck and surprisingly strong, probably learned it from Jagr.
Huberdeau not so fun fact:
Will usually go MIA for about a month every year (last year being the exception), usually at the beginning of the year.

Oh dear, a franchise winger who starts slow, nothing can prepare us for that….

I think the Klingberg signing is going to play materially here and elsewhere (Kadri?). I can't imagine that Klingberg was hoping to only score a 1-year contract. He's also 29...and Huberdeau and Weegar might take a look at that. If BT offers them a shorter term, but reasonably high-value contract, they might opt for that as the market seems to be somewhat soft otherwise.
This should work for the Flames to keep a couple of good players for (say) 3 years as I can't see a lot of teams wanting to pay big bucks for a 30-year old on a long-term contract at the end of this year (when they're looking for their 23-24+ contracts).
If they really are open to signing in Calgary, a medium term, higher-value contract seems a good choice.

I don't think Klingberg will factor into our new pick ups negotiations at all, personally. Huberdeau will be 8 years or nothing, while Weegar will likely be 8 as well, with 6-7 a faint possibility.
They're both cashing in for their last contract.

That's what they want...but if they don't get it...they'll be 30 and looking again. Not as interesting to other teams...that 3 at the beginning of an age seems to have an effect. BT has his work cut out for him.

Huberdeau and Weegar are not Klingberg, especially Huberdeau. There will be a line-up to offer them long term contracts next summer if they go that route, lol.
Our chance at retaining these players is in offering long term, likely 8 year contracts, full stop.

I agree the Flames don't really have any more wiggle room to mess around, but all prospective free agents should be thinking really hard about any 'test the market' strategies.
Players should either secure their deals and worry about location later...or if location is that untenable then approach it more like Tkachuk did.
It'll be particularly interesting to see how things play out for Pastrnak and JT Miller

You seem to know a lot about how much more than everyone else you know. But can I ask how this is relevant to the topic.
Also...I assume you already know that it's extremely insecure (and super redundant) to post your phone model in every post. Especially one that has a gaping vulnerability right now fyi

Grant me mod powers. I'll have this place cleaned up in a jiffy.
There's a couple really obvious sin binnings that would instantly improve the board tenfold.
And no, that doesn't include PF.
But there are some wild boars running rampant rn that need to be subdued. This place should not be this volatile in the middle of summer lol.

I think that would get it done with Weegar, 50+ million dollar deal for a guy who's made 8.5 so far, that's an unreal payday.
Huberdeau will get paid regardless where he goes, I can see him wanting to be in Montreal given the choice.

I am absolutely stupefied that you seem to think this is something that anyone would care about.
"Insecure"? "Gaping vulnerability"?? My phone??!
