Could be but the Habs have lots of ugly contracts good luck making enough room to sign both players if they became UFAs.

Maybe already talked about. But he’s also a bigger forward which is gonna be great for the playoffs.
LW | 6' 1" | 202 lb | Age: 29
We could try and move guys like Lucic and make room for someone more productive.
I feel like this is a step forward for us. We still need another right winger.

He doesn't have the defensive metrics (prevention) of Giordano.
He's off the charts in creating offensive metrics for sure, and that takes his splits way up the list, but he's not Giordano.
In the last 3 years he's 5th in defenders for xGF60, that's an elite offensive defenseman. Elite. On spot ahead of Hamilton btw.
Defensively he's 31st to Giordano's 14th.
Better offensively for sure, but not as good defensively as Giordano.
Now what will the change of teams do? Does it improve his defense? Hurt his offence? What does it do to his splits.
Either way not arguing that he's not a huge add, but curious to see how his game adapts away from the all in regular season team that was the Panthers.

Other teams are probably shocked that Huberdeau was even available and are now salivating at the idea of adding that piece to their lineup.
This is great news. If he shows reluctance to sign, there will be a lineup of bidders for him.

This is a very exciting yet worrisome trade. Love both players coming back in the deal. That said until they have signed an extension I will be very worried about this trade. I see a lot of posts saying they will flip them at the deadline if not re-signed. If flames are in a playoff spot at deadline I can guarantee they won’t be traded.

You need more guys like Weegar and Brodie, not less.
My only concern about Weegar is skating, since your top four has to be able to skate with McDavid. I think the Kylington - Tanev pair should be kept intact regardless of anything else
|
Obviously his mistakes are the result of him trying to make a play but it was pretty bad at times. Similarly to Brodie's brain fart moments but Weegar is awesome if he doesn't try to be that number one guy. My own speculation but these guys know what the stats say and he's trying to get that big pay day that he hasn't gotten so far- he just tried to do to much.
I think his skating issues are overblown, he isn't the smoothest and definitely not the most shiftiest skaters but he can get up and down the ice very well.

If we trade him to someone he’ll sign a contract extension with (like what just happened with Tkachuk) the haul will be massive (like what happened with Tkachuk).
Quite possible to completely reverse the entire Gaudreau mistake in one fell swoop.

I think it depends if Huberdeau is there today. Can't really flip a guy who was just visibly announced to fans.

If they do trade him though I hope it's to Ottawa or something. It would be hilarious to just continuously fill the Atlantic full of good players just to piss off Leafs fans. "Hey here's yet another guy who will be pumping goals past your sieve of a netminder, enjoy".
|
Bjorkstrand isn’t on Hubredeau’s level

Honest question: when was the last time the league's 2nd leading scorer (or 1st for that matter) was traded? I have to imagine this occurs very rarely.
