Yes, I kept saying - where’s the evidence of all this tampering. People just assume rule breaking is rampant. Frankly, what team trusts a secret deal with Lewis Gross anyway. You tamper and make a deal and he just takes it to another team.

If those things were actually the issue, you move on from the player.

Philadelphia is even closer, and he definitely was interested in signing there until they said they couldn't make the cap work.

Well, Gaudreau doesn’t like playoff hockey anyway, so I can see the appeal for him to go to Columbus.
I suspect this was not Gaudreau’s preferred destination and someone (Lewis or Gaudreau) fumbled the ball badly here.

I think the idea that players and teams have negotiated entire contracts before free agency starts is not real. I do think teams reach out before that period starts though.

And also on Darryl, who obviously came back because of the potential he saw in the team, and specifically Johnny.
Crazy.

As for the second hand rumours about Johnny not liking a teammate or teammates - all I've heard from the mouths of actual players on the team has been how close the team is and how they hang out together all the time outside on their one time. If believe these multiple players over the second hand rumours.

And he signed with the Jackets for less money and years. If she was selling something I wouldn't buy it.

It’s amusing to read the narratives tbh. But I’m sure Johnny will openly talk about his decision someday and we’ll learn the truth of why he left

Something that stood out to me about the picture at Monahan's wedding was the absence of certain high-profile player. Are we experiencing another Fleury-like situation where his personality is divisive and driving players away? It would suck if it came down to a him versus me scenario and the team picked the wrong guy.

Only read through 10 pages so far. What is everybody up in arms about? It's down to three things.
1. He doesn't want to be here
2. Why wouldn't you hold out till the last minute when you're in the position to do so? You would do the same when negotiating
3. Writing was on the wall when Tre couldn't get him re-signed last off season. But what else can Tre do when it was clear the team would make the playoffs by Christmas time? No way would you trade your star player when you have a chance at the cup.
Finally we know Columbus is not a world class city, but is Calgary that much better?

This.
Plus people are looking at Edmonton and saying 'oh I would personally never sign there' but if Edmonton were a competent organization without all the meddling and suckage the past 10+ years, nobody would be saying that.
New Jersey is not a hockey town like Calgary is. Yes, they have more history, but they're not New York.
Baffling.

If you’re talking about Tkachuk, he was vacationing in Greece all week with his family for his parent’s anniversary
