You dont let some meany-head at work screw up the single most important contract of your life.

That would be crazy.

To be fair, it was reported that a lot of players hated Hartley, and even Treliving didn't care for him much. But you're right. I can't imagine anybody but Murray Edwards being safe if Gaudreau said ‘it's either him or me’, and I can't imagine that Edwards spends enough time around the team for the situation to get that bad.

It’s weird.

In the end it still wasn’t money.

It still was the Eastern Conference in the Metro.

But it not being Philly or New Jersey makes it feel not right.

It’s quite possible that Johnny’s agent just messed up, overplayed his hand with NJ and Philly and in the end Columbus was just the only thing left that was “closer” to home.

The Flames win? Columbus has virtually an identical track record the last 8 years to the Flames in terms of playoff success.

He wanted to go, when he came to that decision, I don't know. Could have been in the last month or after the post season embarrassment, regardless its his prerogative. Unfortunately the blame is now going to shift from who it should be on, to Johnny.

Okay I guess? But let’s stop drafting American players it’s starting to become a trend. First Fox now Johnny. If Coronato amounts to more than a hill of beans how long before he wants out? Only Euros and Canadians please.

The idea that it’s revenge for previous negotiations is preposterous and downright stupid. Why wouldn’t he have requested a trade then in the last 6 years? Why would he have re-signed at all?

People honestly think he’s some crazy ass petty loser who was willing to suffer at an organization he hated for years just to leave as a UFA? Lol.

Same goes for the idea he hates someone in the org. As if he’d just sit around and hate life for years on end and then leave now, instead of asking for a trade if he hated it so much.

The most likely answer is the simplest. He gets to play in the east, he gets out of an intense hockey market and he still gets paid enough to be rich beyond his wildest dreams.

No "Thank You Johnny" post from the Flames yet (Gudbranson and Luke Philp of all people got them immediately!)

And nothing yet from Johnny.

Both are very odd given the history here.

Was it Joe Burrow who said he's pleased that there's nothing to do in Ohio because it means he can focus on his football? I'm probably paraphrasing for effect as he could've been yakking about Cincinnati

I'm stunned. What a bizarre tale thus has become.

How am I supposed to know as I clearly stated another poster made the statement. You say that makes no sense but the reality is that signing in Columbus makes no sense so clearly there's something that kept him from committing to Calgary.

Exactly, coupled with things got “emotional” on the last call.

It's starting to seem, despite Tre coming out last night and saying all the right things, that the Flames, internally, feel burned by Johnny.

I suspect the "two sides are negotiating in good faith." ended up to not be true.

Hey, being level headed is frowned upon here I think. But I'm out of thanks, so thanks.

What a slap in the face to all his team mates here too.

Some of them spent many years here with him building up to a 111 point team that killed in the advanced stats department. As Tre said they took another step.

He just took a big #### on all of them too.
