Treliving has let Brodie, Gio and now Gaudreau walk out the door for nothing.
What would you have done to keep Giordano? Whom would you have lost in the expansion draft instead, and how much would you have paid the Kraken to make it happen? Please be specific.
Because the Flames did not lose Giordano for nothing. The assets they would have lost instead are what they have to show for letting him go. Every team lost a player.

There is every indication he’ll make the same mistake with Tkachuk, and zero reason to allow him the opportunity to try.
Explain to me what indication you are talking about.

It is quite possible he could lose every one of Gio, Brodie, Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Lindholm and Hanifin to leave as UFAs for not a single asset.
Don't forget Hamilton, Ferland, and Fox. It was incredibly stupid of him to let them all leave as UFAs instead of trading them for something useful.
I mean, we all know Treliving always lets his assets go for nothing, so who are you going to believe, the narrative or your lying eyes?

All of those guys could feasibly fetch 1st round picks ++ in trades, which would be monumental for a rebuild.
Lots of teams rebuild without their young stars retiring in season 9 of a 5 year plan.Hanifin / Tkachuk could certainly be a part of a new team window.
Is there still a possibility he could sign back with the Flames, if he doesn't like the offers and/or he changes his mind? If so, there is a sliver of hope?

I didn't watch the press conference but people who did said that Treliving said he doubts it.
I guess you can never say never until he signs with someone else but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Yeah 99 is closer to 80 than 100. Playing with a half broken Monahan that he got him to 80 points.
If it's so easy for Gaudreau to get to 100, why did he stop at 99? And what about all those other years when he wasn't even close? Was he just slacking on purpose, since he didn't do something so easy?
I mean, all it takes is for Gaudreau to score 100 points is to have the best linemates he's ever had, on the best team he's ever played on, under the best coach he's ever played for, in a year where scoring goes up sharply all over the league. Easy peasy, amirite?

I have every reason to believe he wanted to stay here. Then his family and parents entered the equation and clouded up his line of thinking. Should I stay or should I go now will haunt him for awhile as he moves on to his new team.
Yeah this is how I think it went down as well. Johnny seemed ready to sign on the dotted line last year.
That’s why I think it was vital to sign Johnny before the end of the season. This wasn’t a battle against Johnny’s clock, this was always a battle against the wife’s clock.
Johnny seems like the persuadable type by nature, give him a couple of months with the pregnant wife/family back home and they probably got comfortable with the idea of staying. Wife needs help with the baby, family nearby to help, it’s the perfect situation.
Management didn’t know who they were up against. They needed to make Johnny and his wife an offer they couldn’t refuse a long time ago.
